Lounge Access Abu Dhabi

Hi All,

Current Silver Velocity but will make Gold when i touch down from my SYD-LHR flight with Etihad in August. I return back to Sydney in September Departing from Rome (No lounge access here by the looks of things as VA Gold?) which is code share with Alitalia , with a 5 hour stop over in Abu Dhabi, then back onto Sydney on EY all flying in economy.

Being away i wont have receive my new gold card, will this be a problem trying to access the Al Rheem lounge for myself and a guest? Or will they simply look up my details and grant me entry.

Have a print-out of your Velocity account showing you are gold and you should be ok. I don't know if they have the facilities at the al reem to look up your velocity membership and even if they do it's easier for them to try and turn you away for lack of card..

Yeah I would do a print out, when I was there recently they asked to see my card.

had no problems in Abu Dhabi airport when we went through in April, however they do check card or boarding pass. It would pay to follow up with VA and Etihad before the flight and before reaching Abu Dhabi which as an airport was chaotic in April.

Do you have 'Priority Pass' that comes with many premium CC's. There are a couple of choices in FCO.

Do you have 'Priority Pass' that comes with many premium CC's. There are a couple of choices in FCO.

I have a virgin flyer credit card and a velocity platinum amex, neither of which im aware of give me lounge access in FCO, although i could well be wrong?

Give VA a ring and inform them of your situation. The exact same situation happened to me 2 weeks ago whilst in New York. VA emailed me a letter stating my situation on Velocity Letterhead signed. Used this at JFK & AUH successfully.

I think the advice of having a couple of approaches (printout, letter) is a good one. AUH lounge is generally good, but they can be a little bit... variable. Depends on who you get. Some are real sticklers, some aren't.

I remember trying to convince them of the fact that, as a VA Plat, I got access to the first class lounge, not mere business class They weren't impressed. Even more unimpressed when they realised I was right, and had to let me in. They looked at me like I'd just trod through dog **** on my way in. Worth it though.

I called VA and they said to email them 48 hours after the flight which will get me to gold and then they will send me an authorisation letter from them which states my eligibility as a gold member. Thanks for the tips
