Hi

Well at last I am about to celebrate my 50th in September and looking to getaway with Mrs Ansett and myself. We are unsure where to go at that time of year. Can anyone suggest a good package for a nice beach holiday for 5 nights?

many thanks

Lombok? If JQ commences flights there from PER by then (and has special launch fares)...

Just back from 8 days on Oahu and enjoyed it very much. Nice easy holiday where people were friendly and easy going and polite. Heard no one raise their voice against their spouse, their kids or even yahoo against yahoo. Went around the Island and did some good eating. Range of prices to suit whatever the budget is and level of luxury sought.

Was in HNL again 1st week March last, always find the locals and visitors alike so friendly, service brilliant everywhere, a visit to the huge Waikele shopping outlet is a must. If you can maybe find a few others a full ABC Limo full stretch beaches 3hour tour will just set you back a mere USD$220 in toto all day about $350. Excellent feed at the Cheesecake shop and Hard Rock Cafe, lunch or dinner at Hilton Hawaiian Village on the beach is the go too. Accom. this time was Outrigger Regency on Beachwalk, good size boutique apartment eat out or in, close to the main drag but quiet. If you go QF select seats 35 J/K second exit row with stacks room.

Hawaii!

Maui if you just want beaches and some exploring
Oahu if you want beaches/shopping/more touristy/busier but you can drive to quiet areas and relax
Lanai if you want beach and pools and relaxing
Kauai if you want pools and some exploring

All of them are beautiful and I can't wait to get back there ASAP

If you give more specifics of what you would like to do exactly then I'd be happy to push you to a specific Island

Cheapo to SIN thanks to QF, ~$800 for two. Jump on a berjaya package deal to Japamala resort on Tioman Island, 5174 RM (~$1750) for 2 for 5 nights. Includes flights, transfers, and breakfast. If you're feeling rich, you can spring for one of the nicer rooms (some of which include a private plunge pool!). If you're feeling cheap, you can go to Tioman dive resort instead, 2914 RM.

Yeah SIN for less than $400 pp on QF seems like a no brainer. You could add on a short 3K flight to someone a little more exotic if SIN is too expensive or not beachy enough for you. You should have a fair bit for accom/spending money with flights this cheap!

Or else look out for VA to NAN. They prob won't do it for your dated but I've seen it as low as $179 one way.

Hi K

hadnt considered that BUT will now have to consider where we could go from Singapore. Looks like we may have another 2 or 3 couples coming with us and some have not been to Singapore so could be a good combo.

Cheers

I very much recommend Tioman :) Truly is paradise! Much cheaper than SIN too (unless you go to Japamala, which is the priciest place on the island; meals about $20 each including a coughtail). We made up for it though by taking snacks and instant noodles from SIN so only had to buy dinner each night.

Elsewhere on the island (say around Salang or Air Batang) meals are $3-4 each.

Oh, what the hell. Go all out and Vomo Resort, Fiji Vomo . Has its own (largish) island (in fact, 2); get the helicopter transfer to and from your flights from OZ - 15 minutes direct from airport to island!

I recommend the hillside Villas, and going in Australian school hols.

Edit: Ooops - neglected to note your 'cheap getaway' qualifyer. Apologies. Vomo not cheap :(

We went to Ayers Rock (Uluru) and had the Dinner under the stars' on the actual night. Very appropriate.

For the price of all of that, combined with the pathetic accommodation you could easily go to many other Asian countries!
