Hi all, I understand that lip gel or gloss is considered a liquid but there seems to be confusion about lipstick which is a solid. Some airports consider it a liquid. Any thoughts?

If you have a toiletry bag with other items that need to be shown separately when going through security screening, include it with that. If not, I personally wouldn't bother pulling out of bag otherwise.

I have read that powders are now being scrutinized more closely at US airports. I wonder how widely this powder rule is being applied. My doctor has recommended a daily supplement that comes in powder form; not a prescription item, just on the shelf in the pharmac_ stuff. I'm not travelling into or out of the USA, but will be going through airports in Singapore, Istanbul, Georgia, Athens, France and the UK.

I thought it wise to ask the doctor for a note, but he has tiny handwriting and I can only just decipher it. I usually travel with hand luggage only but was thinking of checking a small suitcase on a couple of legs of this journey. Would it be better to have this item (it comes in a 4 ½ inch tall solid plastic cylinder) in my hand luggage or in checked baggage? If it's considered suspect in hand luggage, might it not also trigger some sort of alarm if buried in checked baggage, or is that never X-rayed?
