Limo/taxi transfer in Paris

I am arriving in Paris by train and need a transfer to my hotel near the Champs d'Elysees. This appears to be only 15 min or so by car yet what I've found on google seems to be 65-70 euro minimum, and a lot at 90 euro or so.

Anyone have any recommendations or ideas?

Are you arriving on the Eurostar (ie into Gare du Nord)? We did a similar journey recently by taxi and the cost was less than $15 from memory. There is a small line outside the station for taxis but we were in one in about 5 minutes and at our hotel 10 minutes later.

Agree with the other 2 replies. We stayed near the train station in 2008 & quite often saw the train arrivals & within 5-10 minutes the area returned to norm. Taxis manouvre around to be in the best spot to get a fare.

The third tick here for a taxi. If you're arriving on Eurostar it's the most sensible option, unless you really want to part with €70 for a quick trip.

There are several main stations in Paris and where you can arrive according to where your trip originated. If arriving at la Gare du Nord it's simple and cheap to buy a metro ticket, take the RER to Châtelet, and on the same ticket you can take the yellow line 1 'direction La Défense' and disembark where you want.

It would be helpful to let us know which will be your arrival station in Paris.

If travelling in a large group be aware that French taxis tend to be on the compact side and may be unable to cope with much luggage.

Then hire more than one taxi?

There is no way in hell I'd be schlepping around the Metro with luggage, especially if I had to transfer at Chitelet. (I know how it's spelled!).
