Hi everyone - first time poster here but long time lurker & looking for an opinion from someone who may have experienced this issue with lifemiles before.
Unfortunately I have been caught out by the change in aircraft with Thai Airways where they are no longer servicing first class on their SYD-BKK route later this year. I purchased for myself & my partner 2 first class tickets from SYD-BKK-ZRH for travel around xmas with Thai Airways (booked via lifemiles). With the change now that TG are no longer offering first class on the SYD-BKK leg (i was booked into TG472), I am concerned that i may have issues with this overall flight - given that lifemiles don't offer redemptions that span different cabin classes.
When i log onto the thai airways site with my booking reference, i can see that they have automatically booked me into SYD-BKK in business class (it's appearing in the itinerary as "confirmed, timechange" (?)) BUT i neither have an 'e-ticket' number for that leg of the journey (although i do have one for the BKK-ZRH leg), nor has the old leg disappeared, it's simply there called "unable, does not operate". I'm a bit worried that because the SYD-BKK has been moved to business and the BKK to ZRH remains in first, that lifemiles will not accept the change in cabin class (& maybe that's why they're not automatically re-issuing a ticket #?) because this goes against the terms of the ticket (even though i had no choice & it was out of my hands).
Has anyone ever experienced this before, and what was the end result? I've put a message into Thai Airways to see what they say, but keen to know if anyone else has come across this before... If this has been answered previously & i've missed it apologies!
thanks all
