Lifemiles - a glitch?

Yesterday I booked 2x pax from Australia to Europe in J from one lifemiles account. I booked the return from another account also in J. Each booking should have used 150,000 points and a cash component of 800 odd USD.

Having received no email and an error message for both bookings I rang lifemiles a number of times which resulted in e-tickets being issued for all flights and these show up on the carrier websites.

Now the kicker - for both bookings only 75,000 miles have been deducted rather than the required 150,000. I (perhaps stupidly) mentioned this to the lifemiles rep over the phone as I thought it may be why there had been no confirmation or ticketing. She said 'don't worry, the systems will align shortly'.

But 6 hrs later, both accounts still have 75k sitting there.

Should a few weeks elapse and those points remain, do I take it as a gift from the gods and take another holiday - or do you think this could lead to the existing booking being cancelled!

You have told them, you have an email and an e-ticket? Sounds good to go to me, not your fault if they ignore your pointing out their error.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Must have been something with their system as had same problem yesterday with a booking i did. Just waiting for them to correct deduction of points and ticket it overnight...i will keenly look at how many points they deduct though...

Lucky you. This happened to me once and I told them as well, and exactly the same as you "it will be sorted out later". Never got the other half of the points deducted.

On the following months statement, it simply shows I earned extra miles (in your case, would be the 75000 miles) out of nowhere. So as far as LM is concerned, it's sorted as the computer glitch just awarded you extra 75000 miles in each account! ie. 150000 miles in total!

Tickets were not cancelled. Already flown! Used those points to book another ticket. No issue.

I would be flying the first ticket before using the rest of the miles.

So tonight I bought some points, then redeemed them straight away. Found the flights I wanted, entered my details, pressed confirmed ..... then an ERROR message  It appears the tax and cash component has been processed against my credit card and I have a OZ PNR. It should have deducted 40k but only 20k has been taken out. Now, do I sit tight and let it sort itself out?

Did you write down the reservation number? It should have been there while it was "processing" your credit card.

With that reservation number, go to checkmytrip.com and see if the reservation has been made, and see if e-ticket has been issued (if it has, there will be an e-ticket number).

Alternatively, just contact lifemiles, quote the reservation number and see if it has been ticketed. If it has, congratulation, you got yourself an award ticket with half the mile like the OP!

Don't sit idle and assume everything is ok. No e-ticket number, no nothing even if reservation is confirmed!

Yeah thanks I did check CMT last night and no ticket number present, so guess I will have to contact them today.

FWIW I booked HNL-xICN-BKI OZ C 20k + $380 in taxes, per person.
