Life on Abercrombie & Fitch CEO's Corporate Jet | flymefunky.com

Michael Jeffries, CEO of A&F, is known for his eccentricity and his steadfast perfectionism in managing the brand. It seems quite fitting that he would employ similarly precise regiment and quirky protocols on his corporate jet.

The details of the crew manual have been published as a result of legal filing by an ex-pilot that was allegedly fired for being “too old”. The pilot said that he was replaced by a younger 32 year old pilot.

  • Crew are required to wear a A&F uniform consisting of jeans, boxers (not briefs), polo shirts and flip flops. In winter, jackets are to be worn but the zip must go no further up than the fourth button. The lowest button should be left undone
  • The four models must respond to Matthew or Michael with “no problem”. Phrases like “sure” or “just a minute” are not permitted.
  • Male staff must wear A&F #41 cologne for the duration of the flight
  • When vacuuming, the crew must move from the front of the cabin to the back to ensure “smooth, even lines

So what do you think? My thoughts are that this is fairly typical of a CEO who wants things a certain way... if I fit the looks criteria, I'd love the chance to work on the jet!

He needs to fly that Jet to PER and open a store so that I don't have to keep going to MIA to buy A&F gear.. I don't like buying it online..,

Tell me about it

I do have those red pants in the photo though, they are very comfortable I might add

a little lavish for a retailer - must be getting good margins on those sweatshop made goods!

Most items are $60-$200, but if you buy "out of season" or "last years" collection they are a more reasonable $20-$50

Great margins and very well set-up stores with very attractive staff and that smell that makes you want to stay in the store longer

Too funny :)
I googled the CEO and (un)surprisingly his name came up on AwfulPlasticSurgery.com
Nice veneers though ;)

Do you have Frat House in PER? They have it in Melbourne (esp DFOs) and about 25% of their stock is A&F - pretty good prices too.

I love A&F because the t-shirts fit me like they were tailor made.

If you are ever in NYC I highly recommend a visit to the A&F flagship store on 5th or Madison (1 of the 2 - I cant remember) - one of the most bizarre retail experiences I have ever had (I wont spoil the surprise).

I went to the store in London. I dared not blink as I didn't want to miss a thing

It's on Fifth. And A&F has just opened a store in Hong Kong, in the old Pedder Building in Central. It is almost a carbon copy of the New York store (in terms of design and architecture).

The Frat House stuff doesn't seem to be the same quality as the gear from the USA.

I'm a little ashamed to admit... but 90% of my stuff is Abercrombie  and I've never visited a US city without buying something from its A&F shop.

They make it very hard to buy stuff online. You can easily get full priced stuff, but anything on sale isn't exported from the USA. Before travelling, I generally order online and have it shipped to my first hotel. Seems easy enough, but that involves using an IP changer to allow access to the USA site and changing my credit card billing details to the USA address. A bit painful, but worth it!

A&F have had a store in Hong Kong for about 5 years. Not as swish as the NYC store but it was always pretty good.

Is this a recent thing? I have made multiple purchases from A&F online including sale items and shipped them here. It's a bit pricey from memory of last order but the more you order the cheaper it gets.

There's also one that opened up a bit over a year ago in Singapore, on Orchard Road. You can even buy their heavy winter jackets there!

I've seen sale items available for international orders, but if you go in using a US IP, I have found there are much more items for sale and better deals.

I like the way their t-shirts fit as well, but find myself only liking say 40-50% of their stock. Some of it is a bit OTT with logos.

Yeah there are "sale" items and then there are "clearance" items (such as shirts for $10, jeans for $20, jackets for $30-40 etc). They're very cough about only shipping to US addresses (which is very painful). I thought I had them once... i logged on with a US I.P and ordered all the clearance gear to send here. Didn't take long for them to send a "don't think so" email. They also won't send it to a US freight forwarder. They know how to make life difficult for us!

Wow!! Had no idea, just fired up Witopia to a server in Dallas and its a totally different clearance section, now to figure out how to get it here. Must get in touch with my long lost Aunty Betty in Detroit ;)
