I've been looking at flights to DXB from LHR in September for a work conference and have a number of options in the £350-400 range for return flights in Y. BA has some availability in W as they're starting to fly their new A350 on that route from early Sept which is cool. Return prices for W flights are around £650 but my company has a Y only policy 😫

My aim aim is to fly oneworld and keep my QF SG or who knows, maybe WP but unlikely. A quick look on the QF calculators shows BA LHR>DXB will give 15 SC in discount Y and 30 SC in flex Y which is what the W seats are being sold as. However, on a 'QF' flight discount Y is 25 SCs - OK so how much are the QF marketed EK flights?

Now to my problem. I've tried to search on the QF site for LHR>DXB flights and it just keeps falling over. Either keeps going back to the flight search page or throws an error. A search on google flights, filtering for QF shows the EK flights for £2500 while the standard EK flights are £400 - surely this can't be right. Am I doing something wrong?

Searching for LHR>MEL on the QF site shows the EK flights with QF flight numbers as an option so I don't see why these aren't visible for LHR>DXB.

Thought I'd check in with the AFF brains trust on any ideas on why these flights dont show?

We do have a corporate traveller in Melbourne time-zone which is frustratingly slow for me so I like to book all my flights myself. I asked them to quote me LHR>DXB return on QF numbers and they reply with EK flight numbers - arggghhhh

It would be that they're simply not available. More than likely (though I'm not 100% fluent with the codeshare agreement) they wont sell the QF code on the LHR-DXB legs and force you to book through to Australia or that they are just out of seats that they're allowed to sell between the two destinations as a whole

Yes Qantas and Emirates still codeshare on flights between the two cities and plenty of space is available (random date in September below).

The problem is that, shortly after QF pulled out of Dubai they also removed the published fares between the two cities except for full Y class fares.

In plane (haha) English this means that you can only book the most expensive fully flexible ticket when booking between London and Dubai (and vice versa). As you can see these a the prices for a random date in September and are crazy to say the least.

The good news is that if you're crazy enough to book the above flights then it's quite easy to do so... I was able to find multiple online travel agents who displayed those flights (and prices) and I'm sure Qantas over the phone could also do the same.

Thanks @henrus :)

There's no way I'm that crazy to book those flights. I also had confirmation from my company travel agent that the codeshare fares are available for $4248.70 🤮

BA it is!
