On Sunday, my wife and I flew home on QF94. We were in the upper deck economy section.
There had been a group of us in the cabin who all hit it off and whilst boarding, there were many jokes and introductions.
When we arrived, we all chatted and said goodbye and off we all went.
During all this I managed to leave my 10" Samsung tablet in the seat pocket.
After clearing customs and rechecking the bags through to Adelaide we went to the QP where I discovered I had left the tablet behind.
I went to the desk in the club and the lady rang through to somewhere and told me the flight had not yet been cleared (maybe she meant cleaned) and gave me a number to ring at "Qantas Found Property".
I rang the number from the lounge and left a message with flight details, seat number, details of the tablet and hoped for a reply on Monday (they are not open on weekends!!)
No reply on Monday so I rang again and left another message.
I find it very hard to believe that with all the details I gave them, they simply cant get back to me, so I'm asking if anyone has anywhere else I should ring to try to get this thing back?
My worry is that if they did not get the message until Monday, the flight will have been turned around, and either my tablet has gone to somewhere else, or a cleaner has a new useless tablet!
Thanks in anticipation.

Have you got travel insurance?

My experience with trying to make contact with 'found property' is abysmal. They never seem to be open and they never call back. I would not be surprised if the staff (assuming they really exist) have a nice secondary income from ebay.

Yes, I do have travel insurance but would like to exhaust other possibilities first.

I left a laptop on a CNS-BNE flight a couple of years ago. It was the airport lost property in BNE who I had to deal with I think, and they were very hard to get hold of.

Noone returned my calls. i just kept calling till I got through, and luckliy it was there.

I just got another number from Qantas, and even Qantas couldn't get through to Qantas.
I'm over it and have requested an insurance letter - wonder how long that will take!!!
