Hey All
I have looked on the net and there and I can not see anything... Regarding the LAX Virgin American LOFT lounge for pre-departure for VA8 to BNE... Is there a Shower?

Thanks

I have loo

Yes there are showers according to some reports while others say no showers!

Yup. No Shower. They took the AS Boardroom that was there, gave it a lick of paint and threw in some new chairs. It's a terrible lounge, and almost no power points either so don't expect to be able to snag one of them to charge up a device prior to a flight...

Yes, no showers. Quite disappointing after seeing appealing pictures on the website. Powerpoints are plenty but mostly on the floor. Food is okay. Staff behind bar happy chatting rather loudly among themselves. Nice views over tarmac.

It's primarily the VX domestic Vlounge which by default basically becomes the VA international lounge later on.

I can only imagine the fight for showers if they were provided.

I don't get all the hating on this lounge. I mean, have you seen the QF/OW alternatives at LAX?
The coughtails are great, and service good when I've been there.
Bit too busy prior to VA2 though..

If you have a lamp you should have no issue charging any USB device, there are ports in the base.

Forget about LAX VA Loft lounge in Terminal 3. Get a Day room at the four points sheraton.!!!!!

Next time when arriving back into LAX on way home to OZ, catch the complimentary hotel shuttle to Four Points Sheraton which is 300m up the road. You would already have a room there for $89 day use by previously Booking online and checkin date is day you arrive and checkout day is the next day but use rate plan "DY" or "DAYRMS" and you will only get charged $89. Apparently only valid 0800-1700 Mon-Fri.

Whats good: Use of nice room with real bed to nap and shower, outdoor pool with bar, fitness center, internet use, room service, and you can eat proper food and drink (extra cost). For $89 for one to 4 pax (rate valid for room with 2 double beds) plus food and drink - better than LAX VA Loft. And you get charging points for all your electronics!!! And free transfer back to airport.

Its value depends on your layover time in LAX.

Whats not good: You are outside checkin and security so will have to give enough time to do the formalities but if you are smart you will be able to minimise time at the gate. Note VA departs from terminal 3 and not many flights depart before VA2 between 1900-2100.

If you are flying J you probably feel ripped off paying J and then another $89. But if you are flying Y and below the $89 does not sound too bad at all.

When I came back on VA2 earlier in the year, I was second in line when check-in opened. And security into T3 was pretty busy. I shudder to think what it would have been like closer to departure for the Aussie VA flights.

If I was coming back on VA2 again & was staying in LA the night before, I'd try & get a later check-out. If someone is SG/WP, I don't see the point in paying $89 when I have most of what I need in the VX Vlounge. Plus I like the tarmac views. Of course, everyone is different & some people would not think twice of paying the $89 & coming to the airport later.

Yup. The AA T4 FL is far superior to it IMHO. I don't care about coughtails, so long as the liquor selection is reasonable (which it is in AA T4 FL) and I can mix myself. The new TBIT QF lounge will also leave it for dead, but that's a way off yet.

That won't charge my laptop though ;) Having been there several times, power points are at a premium as well as the fact it's near impossible to find a chair even if you do find a power point. USB points are great, but VA's 777's have USB on-board anyway. It's mainly my laptop that needs the boost (but if i'm in W or J, it's a moot point).

LAX Hilton also offers this day rate. When booking online, enter the departure date to be the same as the arrivals. Last time I used it it was a similar price (just mentioning for those who have HHonors Gold/Diamond thru the VA match).

I would have to say that the Lounge was vey full, and seats were hard to find and I was looking for power... There are out lets on the bottom side of the bar so I was able to sit at the bar and charge up before the flight.... The snack selections were pretty good if you ask me.

I don't like this lounge either, more style than substance. Simply not enough space or chairs to accommodate two VA longhauls going out along with the VX traffic. I do the carpark shuttle over to In'n'Out now instead.

I like the Loft when flying VX during the day; but i hate it when flying VA back to Oz at night...

While I imagine this isn't an option for everyone, if you connect in LAX on DL you can use the DL Sky Club .. it's nothing special, but there are showers, free booze / nibbles and a reasonable number of powerpoints available. From there you can take the transfer bus which will get you to T3 without going through security again (just keep in mind that the bus ride takes 20-30 minutes, so leave yourself an appropriate amount of time to make the transfer).

Are you sure you can gain access if the flight you are intending to take is not a DL flight?

Done it a bunch of times, so yes. I usually have to explain that I know the VA flight is in a different terminal and sometimes they have to check the access rules, but you'll note that the Velocity website mentions the following for Delta Sky Club access:

You and a guest on presentation of membership card and boarding pass for same day departure on a Virgin Australia International Long Haul flight or a Delta Air Lines flight.
