So looking at flying out of LAX with SQ at 14.20 anyone have any thoughts on arriving via AC at 11.35 same day. That leaves 2.45min. Can I checkin to the SQ flight in YVR before leaving as they are *A. I have very limited knowalage of how *A work or what a transfer though LAX is like.

Any thoughts or assistance would be amazing

I've not had experience with an AC to SQ connection at LAX however a 2¾ hour connection seems plausible if the arriving AC is on-time. I'd also assume you will be able to check in for the SQ flight in YVR as both airlines are part of *A.

Does your AC flight have pre-clearance? If so then you'll definitely be fine.

Are the AC and SQ flights in the same pnr or separate ones?

I thought all Canada to USA flights did pre-clearance on the Canadian side.

If so, the US Customs bit would be done in YVR immediately after clearing outwards Canadian Customs.

You would then arrive in LAX as a domestic pax as though you'd arrived off a flight from Vegas. As there's no outwards US Customs you simply go from AC arrivals at T2 to SQ departures at TBIT.

Yes, you will definitely do USA immigration in Vancouver. Then the flight to LAX is effectively a domestic flight.

This means you need to check in at YVR at least an hour earlier than you would otherwise. The time spent in queues only moves, it doesn't disappear. Also, Canadian security queues are slow, up with the best if them .

There are no outwards Canadian immigration.

Even if you can't check in at YVR, tons of time to collect bags and check in at LAX.

Just watch timely departure from YVR. If it's in winter, AC network delays can be common, but pretty well forecast. YVR isn't the problem, it's where the inbound comes from.

Plenty of time. It's all *A so your bags should be checked in Vancouver all the way to your final destination and as commented above you arrive at LAX as a domestic passenger. Only issue is a major delay of your flight out of Vancouver, well that is always a potential problem but unless it's delayed almost 2 hours you should be fine.

Just because AC and SQ are both star alliance, doesn't necessarily mean that they will through check bags if the flights are on different itineraries /PNRs. It will depend on AC's policy in this regard, it would be worth finding out what that is. If on same PNR then no problems - bags will be through checked.

Have done it with AC, no problem. This all changed once everyone went e-ticket AC became very good on this. They are not concerned about seperate pnr's as long as you can provide the e-ticket numbers and pnr's and you are connecting to an AC interline partner, which SQ certainly is. But as always YMMV:!:
