Saturday and we were off to Homage at Woolmers Estate. We came here because one of the chefs at Charlotte and Jack in Devonport came here after that closed.Unfortunately he had moved to Melbourne 2 weeks before our visit to work in a new restaurant near Richmond station.
It was a day after Melbourne's recent lockdown started. The place was virtually empty. They had lost all the booked accommodation for the weekend. The view from the restaurant was beautiful.
The menu was simple.I had the okonomiyaki which was a lot different to the Japanese versions but was very nice.
Mrsdrron had the goulash with Penne. .
A side of the best fries we have had. .
Washed down as usual with a sav blanc. .
And a shared mango mousse.
The wifi here in the shoebox is woeful.I began uploading the pictures for this post at 2000 last night.I was determined to get another post in this threa
I was determined to get this post completed. I began uploading at 2000 last night. Then when I posted it went haywire with multiple copies of the pictures. Think I will wait until I am out of this shoebox.
Today I went down to Beauty Point to try the Waterfront hotel. The Lower Tamar really is beautiful country..I sat outside in the sun.Though the temp didn't make it to double figures. . .
I had the seafood platter for one to try a range of their seafood. The scallops, squid and fish were very good, the prawns not up to scratch. But enjoyable with a glass of Holm oak pinot noir. . .
So back to places I went to with mrsdrron. This was Cataract on Paterson.Always busy.We came here the night we spent by ourself at the Quest.Fortunately we got the last table when we rang.Had to be out by 1930 which was no problem for us.
Mrsdrron had the slow cooked lamb and i the slow cooked pork.both were good but the lamb was best.A side of sweet potato fries.Lamb first. . . .
The Sunday before we went to the Josef chromy winery. We do enjoy the food here but had avoided coming on the weekend for lunch because there were always hords of screaming children running around. However they have changed the way they present lunch and it is a choice of 2 or 3 courses and no chidren's menu.Families can still eat outside and order off an A la Carte menu.So the children today were all outside and the atmosphere inside was much nicer.
The menu. . .
Naturally a Josef Chromy Sav blanc. .
To start I had the kingfish and mrsdrron the carpaccio. Both Excellent. .
For mains I had the pork belly and mrsdrron the fish.Again both very good. . .
Service was excellent. Also a lovely setting.First the view from where we parked and then the view from our table. . .
A new restaurant for us - the Riverview restaurant, Launceston.Vietnamese.Good but catering for a motel and local clientele.
Started with scallops and green onion. Lovely.
Then Mrsdrron's main was lemongrass beef with vegetables whilst I had a Vietnamese beef salad. Mine had authentic taste but Mrsdrron's was too western.
We decided the creme brulee would be nice and it certainly was.

Despite saying it is the best Thai restaurant in Launceston the 3 starters I had were not really Thai. Here is the menu. . . .
I had the Tamarind ribs, the soft shell crab and the duck pancakes. But washed down with a Thai beer. . . ..
