I'm thinking about booking a JASA to include a visit to Langkawi for my 10th wedding anniversary (we honeymooned there).

I thought it would be nice to return to the hotel we originally stayed (Pelangi Beach Resort). However I've read some recent posts on the interwebs claiming the place is having renovations &/or the rooms are a bit run down.

Has anyone recently been to Langkawi & can make a suggestion re accommodation?

:)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Not recent - the Datai.

We really liked the place & would not hesitate returning......probably will now that MH has joined OW.

Have not been there for a few years but hoping to get back there week after next, have only stayed at the SPG properties, of which the Sheraton Beach resort needed work ten years ago and is still waiting, four points is new but lacks significant service orientated management (no room service for instance) while the pick was the Sheraton Perdana which is now the Westin with a great list of activities yet close enough to Kuah to stroll in for a spot of duty free shopping. The Westin actually features on the SPG home page with its jetty jutting out into the sea.

Haven't been for a few years but stayed at The Andaman and loved it, it had shared facilities with the Datai next door and you could charge to your room from both resorts.

I haven't been since 1991 & cannot remember the name of the hotel-can someone identify it from this photo? It was a good hotel at the time

I've stayed at the Westin twice now - loved it. The first time (a weekend) I received my second best ever SPG upgrade (ridiculously big suite, with a massive dining room, wraparound balcony with it's own huge outside dining table, bathroom about as big as a regular room etc...).

It's pretty far removed from the rest of the island, but given you can get from one side to the other in a taxi for about $10, it's pretty painless. There's a great little seafood market about 15min walk down the road too.

The rooms are nice and not run-down at all, and the lobby area is pretty modern. Would definitely stay there a third time.

Cheers,
- Febs.

MH has some pretty good J deals on offer ex KUL at present, good to the end of the year but need to be booked by next week, circa $200 return.
