As a fairly regular trans-Tasman traveller I have stayed loyal to Qantas on my jaunts to AKL and WEL.

Yesterday I had to fly back from CHR and due to the afternoon flight time Emirates was the only option. At $197 for a one-way ticket I was mighty impressed. A brand new plane (777), excellent in-flight AV and really good food - in my view almost equivalent to QF biz class, if not better.

If these guys put on a SYD-AKL service like this I am seriously thinking of defecting. Their flight times to/from AKL are pretty convenient too.

SYD-AKL flight on EK is on A380. I assume that it would be even better than the 777!

Yup. you will find the AKL run on the 380 to be as good as the 777

Hmmmm...I am an unabashed lover of the 777. Best aircraft int he sky IMO.

I enjoy the Emirates A380 flight from AKL also. Great food and service.
Recently picked up AKL - SYD for $141 in August via the NZ site. Then upgraded to business for 16,000 points.

I like the fact that Emirates offers free limo service transfers at both ends of your trip if you travel in J. It's a nice convenience.

They do not offer it on journeys that are purely trans-tasman. If it is part of a longer journey, e.g. AKL-SYD-DXB with a stopover in Sydney, then yes, the chauffeur drive service is provided butif jus booked NZ-AU, have to make ones own way to the airport

It's also very very nice having a F option across the ditch. J just doesn't cut the mustard these days hehe ;)

The no limo for J makes sense, considering how low the fares are and how many J pax can fit into a A380 - it would've been quite a challenge organising that many limos!

Spoke to an ex-pat Aussie who's based in Saudi Arabia & he raves about Qatar Airways - they are just the bees knees.

Out of Etihad & Emirates - if he's flying F he prefers EY but if it's J he prefers EK.

Like everything in life, by all means take on board what people say but the best way is to try it for yourself.
