Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone can help out with a decent place to stay close to KL Sentral. Will be arriving at the LCCT and probably catch the Sky Bus from the LCCT to KL Sentral. We get in at 1420 and leave the next day for HKT at 1100 so dont want to waist to much time in transit around KL. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Another option worth considering is the newly opened Tune Hotel at the KLIA-LCCT.

If you're just after a meal & a good sleep without the added traveling time to get into KL, I think it's worth a shot. At around $30-$40 (including aircon, toiletries...these are "add-ons"), it's pretty good value.
Rooms appear to be modern, basic - I quite like the idea of just paying for the facilities you need.

Close to KL Sentral: Le Meridian is at located at Sentral.

I've stayed at the Swiss Garden Hotel in the city (about 10mins from Sentral) - reasonably priced & very nice, easy walk to restaurants/shops/massage etc. There are also a few LRT/monorail stations close by.

cheers

Le Meridian is ok, actually rather ok in there nice rooms. Cheap enough when i last stayed and nice food at 'Prime'

KL Hilton (my home in KL:p) is you other option at KL Sentral....the "twin" to the LM.

Best thing about these properties is the 35 MYR train trip direct to the airport (atleast the main airport anyway).
Either seems to be the best option i have found in that area.

I always used to stay at the other Hilton when i was out at PJ for work.

at KL Sentral there really is no other lower cost option than the le Meridian and Hilton. Both nice hotels and cheap compared with similar quality in say Sydney, but not cheap as far as Malaysian hotels are concerned. They can have some good discount rates at certain times and days of the week, so worth a look. Anything else you need to factor in the time, money and inconvenience of a teksi, Monorail or MRT ride.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Another vote for the KL Hilton. If you dont have HH status check out the rates for the Executive floor.often cheap and one of the best hotel lounges you will find. The 3 major restaurants are fantastic though pricey by KL standards.

I left K.L 12.4.09 and stayed at The Prince Hotel & Residence. Great location, Great hotel, Excellent staff. 65Rm taxi each way. Kings wife even stayed the last night we were there. Now on the Gold coast nothing compares from here. Totally spoilt

Arriving into KUL at 1420 won't leave you much time to do anything however IF you do stay at the Le Meridien or Hilton they have a shared pool which IMO is one of the best pools for any city type hotel (the other IMO would be the Sheraton Grande in Bangkok).

A good time to go for a quick dip and enjoy the KL sunset, and to refresh up before your next day departure.

Hi guys,

Whilst on the topic of KUL hotels, is anyone familiar with the twin bedded rooms at Westin, Hilton and Sheraton? In particular, I am keen to know if these are single beds, king single beds or double beds?

Am travelling in a party of 3, and we could easily avoid having an uncomfortable rollaway set up if the rooms had 2 doubles...I'd much rather sleep on a Westin Heavenly bed than a rollaway!

Thanks in advance :)

Just been back from KL and the twin beds at the KL Hilton are king single beds. They were definately larger than your average single bed.
If I remember correctly, they were the same beds as in the Le Meridien KL as well...Don't think you'd squeeze two adults on the one bed.

While over at the Crowne Plaza, the beds were singles and very firm. Definately the beds at Hilton were much much better for those who like the comfort.

Cheers

I don't want to hijack smithym's thread - but for the sake of keeping KL questions together....just wondering if anyone has experienced both the Westin and Traders? Am deciding between the two at the moment (will go club floor), so if anyone has any feedback, that would be awesome. Does a chef cook eggs etc on demand in the club lounge at both hotels (love my freshly cooked omelettes!)?

Thanks heaps....

Went to Traders for 2 nights in February. I asked for a Park view which also has great views straight over to Petronas twin towers. I was upgraded to a corner suite which gave me views out my other window to the Menara Tower.

Was escorted by lobby staff to the club to check-in. Service by club staff was great. Evening drinks well attended with a variety of nibbles including smoked salmon and maybe 8 different presentations of sushi along with some Chinese and western staples. Club rooms have wired internet and wireless is available inside the club. Internet was included.

The club has breakfast each morning or you can have breakfast down in the main dining area. I chose there on my first morning and then went to compare the clubs offering, it was sort of a best of version of what was downstairs. I caused a commotion amongst the staff as I did not sit down and have breakfast. One of the managers followed me into the lift to find out what was wrong, until I explained that I had already eaten. I guess walking around looking at the food and then walking out looked bad.

I took an air Asia flight from the gold coast and as the flight was not full I moved to one of the better seats which thankfully did not have a bassinette or baby in that area. No troubles with the LCCT just watch for the competitor bus line outside if you have a voucher as they will let you board and try charge you once the bus is under way. We had an afternoon thunder storm and this made the bus trip a memorable couple of hours.

Got to sentral and its hard to find without help, but on the second floor over to the right is a window to buy taxi vouchers and this is where I got one for a cheap trip to traders. I returned by going to the bottom level of the Petronius tower, you will find a Rapid KL station there and sentral is a few minutes ride. I got a stored value card there which is good for that company but not the other 2 companies that run lines in KL.

I found that from traders the lobby staff will get you a taxi and its maybe $6 to $8 for a fare to china town or central markets so taxi hopping is cheap if you don't want to work the maze of public transport.

I was continuing my journey to Macau and decided to pay for lounge access which wasn't that dear. Hot or cold drinks available (no booze) hot food was actually not bad I tried some noodles with a spicy chicken. I had to get a password from the counter staff to access the free internet, not sure why they don't give you this when you walk in the door.

Don't expect to get a call when your flight is ready to board but try stay in the lounge as long as you can as its pretty much a cattle pen once you go through to boarding. Note the lounge is located near baggage check in.

Hope this helps some.

Thanks for the info Savydog, I will be going to KL later this year and Traders sounds like my kind of hotel. Not sure about air asia though.;)

NP just a couple of additionals ;

yes you can have your eggs cooked to order. I got my LCCT lounge access voucher on my flight over from memory as it was going cheap compared to walk-in price.
