JQ20 Osaka Sydney - which arrival terminal?

On my brother's itinerary it says JQ20 Osaka to Sydney represents an International connecting to an Australian Domestic service, connecting in Gold Coast. Customs, Immigration and Quarantine processing occurs in Gold Coast.

Which terminal will they be dropped off at in Sydney?

Checking on the Sydney Airport site , JQ20 arrives in the International Terminal

I am surprised that it says that Customs and Immigration processing occurs at OOL since I would have expected it to occur in Sydney

That certainly sounds different to my experience on JQ20.

JQ20 KIX-SYD via OOL had us transiting at OOL in the international transit lounge, then all incoming immigration procedures were handled at SYD T1.

Unless they have somehow changed procedures or your "connecting" flight was booked under another flight number besides JQ20 (e.g. JQ20 connecting in OOL to JQ407).

Note that everyone that takes JQ20 OOL-SYD - irrespective if they are transiting from KIX or if they are fresh pax that boarded at OOL - must go through immigration as JQ20 lands at SYD T1. Fresh pax on JQ20 that board at OOL will receive an orange D sticker on their boarding passes which will effectively clear them quickly at immigration and customs.
