Came in from OOL's Communications Office this morning (release not yet available online), JQ will be adding an additional daily A320 OOL-SYD service commencing 1 APR 2012.

In December 2011 Jetstar commenced four extra weekly services on the Melbourne route and have this week announced an additional daily service on the popular Gold Coast – Sydney route, commencing 1 April 2012.

Gold Coast Airport Chief Operating Officer Paul Donovan said the decision by Jetstar to base their fourth new A320 aircraft on the Gold Coast would not only benefit tourism to the region but would also provide employment opportunities.

“Obviously we are thrilled to see existing capacity put on what are traditionally our two key domestic markets and we’ll work closely with Jetstar to ensure this extra capacity proves profitable.

LOW-cost carrier Jetstar has added four more flights a week from Melbourne with the potential to bring an extra 37,440 passengers a year into Cairns.
The airline said with the extra four A320 flights a week there would now be 25 services from Melbourne.

JETSTAR'S low-fare war with rival airline Tiger will intensify today, when 48,000 additional seats a month out of Melbourne are expected to be announced.
Jetstar will base one of two new aircraft at Tullamarine, the budget air war hotspot, as domestic tourism tries to recover from last year's floods and the lingering impact of the high Australian dollar, the Herald Sun reports.
The airline is in the process of adding three or four extra Melbourne connections daily to destinations including Cairns, Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Launceston.
