JL Bringing F back to SYD

JL are replacing the 789 on JL51/52 with a 777 starting September 1st.
The 777 is a 4 class configuration so gives passengers another OW option in F from Australia. Bookings can be made from January 31st and it sounds like award flight will also be able to be booked from that date subject to availability of course.

This also makes JAL the only carrier offering first class from Australia to Japan.

Executive Traveller reported yesterday that JAL are going to reintroduce First Class out of Australia, HND-SYD-HND on B777-300ER; JL52/52, due to current B787 being switched to B777. More J seats too.

Great news for F flyers looking for alternatives in and out of Australia.

I initially got excited when I read the ET article but miss read it and thought the flights were starting from 31/1, we are travelling in April so was going to ditch the QF F sector for JL, 31/1 is the opening date for bookings commencing from September.

Probably very nice at the front part of the plane. But the 2-4-2 configuration in Y was great and now we're swithing to 3-3-3. That wonderful nicety gone now. A little quiet sigh from the back of the plane...

2-4-2 to 3-3-3 isn't great but at least the seats have an extra inch of pitch and same width.

Definitely tempted to redeem at some point but seems bad trying to do this using Qantas points. Don't think I have an easy way to use any other miles though so guess I'll just "pay" a bit extra for the experience...

I am wondering if JL are going cut the 777, I have started looking at availability for late 2021 or early 2022 and noticed that around 30 Oct 21 that the F rewards vanished. When checking on the aircraft type it seems that JL 51/52 will be going back to a 789, hopefully this is just a glitch.
