The last two (at least) promotional emails from Jetstar have great offers... for those migrating to foreign lands...
For example:
"Experience Japan from $199
Prices available in one direction only Return sale fares are not available for travel from Japan to Australia."

I'm not claiming that it's false advertising, as it does clearly state it's one way. But I do think it's poor marketing and poor form, when the cheapest return flight is almost twice the price of the outward flight.

Maybe the idea is to stay in the foreign country until Jetstar announces a one-way sale back to Australia?

Or maybe I'm just having a grumpy day, and I should be happy to get a cheap one-way flight.

Maybe it's targeted to frequent flyers, in the past I've happily fly one way to Asia on the cheap then start buying my fares locally (from the local carrier) to avoid the ex-AU premium. :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

True. I often fly MEL/SIN on Jetstar business to get maximum status credits, and back on a day-flight with another carrier. I'd need to earn a LOT of status credits to do a SIN/MEL overnight flight on Jetstar. Not a lot of options from Tokyo compared to Singapore...

might be good for starting a RTW ticket or can always hop over to TPE and take an ex-TPE J Fare back :)

I'm not convinced that this is the sales strategy that Jetstar had in mind with their promotional email! (Didn't realise ex-TPE J fares were good value though...)

Yes of course, it is a pretty poorly thought out strategy to not lock in the revenue from the return sector and give people a chance to shop around....

Definetely look into Ex-TPE J fares, these are substantially cheaper (40%+) than the Ex-AU equivalents.

I thought a Jetstar one-way holiday was when they cancelled the return flight....
