Hello
Which day of the week (spare seats) would I have the best chance of getting a seat upgrade phone text with Jetstar?
Will be last week in July for around 10 days.Flight over is OK but coming back some waiting at airports.Upgrading luggage allowance will be a bonus as I am buying some HIFI and as many vinyl records I can carry..

This is my best air route option..
Jetstar – Flight 960 (economy)
6:00a Thu, Jul 30 ADL Adelaide, SA, Australia
9:30a Thu, Jul 30 CNS Cairns, QLD, Australia

Jetstar – Flight 25 (economy)
12:20p Thu, Jul 30 CNS Cairns, QLD, Australia
6:45p Thu, Jul 30 NRT Tokyo, Japan

Jetstar – Flight 24 (economy)
12:15p Sat, Aug 8 NRT Tokyo, Japan
11:45p Sat, Aug 8 MEL Melbourne, VIC, Australia

Jetstar – Flight 776 (economy)
8:55a Sun, Aug 9 MEL Melbourne, VIC, Australia
9:45a Sun, Aug 9 ADL Adelaide, SA, Australia

I would suggest that you purchase the luggage allowance you think you will need from the outset. FWIW I have not heard of an op-up on JQ if that was what you were hoping for.

Thanks
I was referring to instead of being allow to upgrade for $200 at check in it is now done with a text option?
Cheers Stump

By chance you can collect a already paid VAIO canvas tablet without packaging and bring back to Melbourne? ;)

Just found a return via Cairns option so with no outgoing luggage fee and $115 40Kg return fee will work out just about right.

believe i've heard of the upgrade offers also displaying in manage my booking online a week or 2 before, trying my luck in a couple of weeks for a Bali flight

Is that $115.00 the total charge for both flights NRT/xCNS/ADL? I don't know whether JQ in NRT will tag your bag to ADL or only CNS bearing in mind even if your bags are tagged to ADL you'll still need to clear customs in CNS as it's your first point of entry to Australia.

Just as well you have no baggage outbound as JQ ADL would only check your bags to the next immediate city then you'd have to checkin all over again CNS/NRT.

It's PITA to have to recheck for NRT at your next port even when you don't have to pay excess, but if you do you need to pay excess baggage fees (over and above you're pre-paid baggage allowance) you end up paying twice - once in ADL then again at the gateway city where you board your flight to NRT.
