Planning to take the family to Honolulu on Dec 31st flying Jetstar *Class...Does anyone know if Jetstar have a *Class sale for this period and what the load factor might be (using last year as a guide ) as we need 8 seats...Think its probably better to just book with so many seats but of course would like a sale fare if it might become available over December-January...Appreciate any guidance...Thanks:)

I'd book it asap so they wouldn't do any price increases, extra fuel fines etc etc. Generally would never be any sales around this time as they have very high loads due to school holidays!

Did this trip 13 months ago to Honolulu "Star Class" what a joke, seats uncomfortable and so close to one in front was not funny, old planes, basic food, no inflight entertainment in seat back, not impressed, found out at 6am our return flight cancelled once at airport, no one called so some very unhappy people at terminal, saving grace for us lucky ones, was put on Qantas J for return to SYD 2 hours later. totally different story, old plane, but huge seat, better food.

You have some interesting observations there:

Old plane - Jetstar's oldest A330 is 8 years 3 months old!

was put on Qantas J for return to SYD 2 hours later. totally different story, old plane, but huge seat, better food.

Not sure I would describe the difference between Dreamtime and Millenium as huge, although the pitch would be huge by comparison between the aircraft. The QF J product is their poorest example on that route, being 20 year old 767s, but they still charge $4-5K for the experience on that route, it makes Starclass look bad but 5 times worse if you got the $1K fare?

On the subject of sales, while I would normally say forget specials over Xmas, in the case of J cabins there is normally a sale on at that time for obvious reasons, however it will come out in November which leaves it late.

-Seats are the same as QF domestic business class.
-Planes are some of the newest in the Qantas group.
-Food is above normal mainline economy standard.
-You get a portable IFE unit. By Dec 2011 it will be an iPad.
-Can't expect a call if the flight is cancelled at the airport? (every airline has cancellations)
-You're lucky JQ chartered a QF aircfart to recover you. NO other airline would do that. And you didn't have to pay any extra or the QF price for their J class.

Very lucky!!! most airlines would leave you to rot. Qantas has the best response to the unexpected I have seen.
