Is V Aust J worth extra cost over PE flying NAN- SYD.

Dear all

Any thoughts?

I will be flying NAN - SYD one way (SYD - NAN already on Air Pac) on V Aust soon and am undecided whether to fly PE or J.

Points that I am taking into consideration:

1. no lounge access at NAN for either
2. Can book PE online via virginmobile site and get 10% back towards mobile bill
3. Have seats 1A, 1C & 2A picked out for J or 12A, 12C & 13A for PE
4. both have same luggage allowance or 32KG.

Also as PE or J can I take a Y passenger to J check- in counter, fast track security line, etc. Always like to give something back by selecting a Y passenger each and take them as a guest into J check- in, fast track, lounge, etc.

I would be going QF J to be frank, $649 is a bargain with lounge access and SC's.

Thanks Markis10, but did FJ J last year and wasn't really happy with the service on the NAN- SYD leg.

Meal was just a Y meal on plates and flight attendants hung out in their area after handing out breakfast. SYD- NAN route much better. I must admit that sitting in A section is the best.

True I will miss out on QF points/SC lounge access, but the 3pm V Aust NAN- SYD flight time much better, saving an extra night in NAN to check in at 7am. Happy to miss out on lounge on morning flight, as all I have is toast, etc.

Got bummed though on SYD- NAN as after I booked a friday flight over the schedule changed from 747 to 767 on FJ.

Afternoon flight where you're not sleeping and it's not that long a flight - Y+ would be my choice.

The VA J product is the best on that route and if you are heading on holiday, why not treat yourself?

I'm all for living it up and treating myself, but its a 4hr 25 min daytime flight, I would go Y+, you'll find it perfectly comfortable for such a short flight.

If we were talking LAX-SYD, then i'd say pay the difference, but for NAN, sitting in J's a bit of a waste IMHO.

I'm one of those people who appreciate flying in J irrespective of the flight time and still see value in paying for the privilege. If your on holiday, why not enjoy that type of decadence as a treat to kick off a awesome holiday...

I would be taking J anyday for the extra $200 on a 4hr flight.

Absolutely! And if you've flown VA in Y+ and J, you will know that both cabins are miles apart in terms of offering.

Not sure if thats true for NAN-SYD but more than likely, DJ on offer up to Premium E on their website ex NAN which is FJD$669 or $375 AUD, which is cheaper than all Y fares with the exception of the Go fare.

I have taken the J option for my family of four, which is 3 when it comes to fares owing to a 15 month old, but we are flying QF anf going via MEL-SYD from BNE, so its hardly a 4 hour flight, more like 8!

Better to sit in J and look at PE for next time, maybe that to be sitting in PE wishing I had of booked J.

For $200, go the J option, only live once.

Where are you all booking these. I can't get the vaust website to give me the option to fly from NAN. DJ website does but no J option, obviously.
