Is there anything I can do about my flight I can't take anymore?

I booked a Jetstar sale flight Melbourne - Singapore (JQ007 economy) departing on the 14th Feb (which I am taking).
The flight returns to Melbourne on the 22nd of Feb (JQ008 business departing @ 8PM)

I've recently decided to stay longer in Asia already booking a new return flight for a later date.

I've already called Jetstar and they told me I cannot get refund but I can transfer the flight to another person.
BUT I would have to put the whole flight itinerary including my departure JQ007 into their name. Which I don't want to do because I need to depart on that date and time.

This is a unique circumstance but does anyone know a way around this where I can possibly not waste a $450 business ticket and put it to some sort of use?
I only called once but was the Jetstar rep right when he said I couldn't get a refund? Is there any way I can either sell or give my return ticket to someone?

Unless you can find someone in Singapore with the same name as you who wants to go to Australia in February, I can't think of anything.

Jetstar are usually unhelpful when it comes to changes or refunds. Jetstar are cheap for a reason - you get what you pay for.

I think you've done your money.

Looks like you booked the basic fare which doesn't allow for changes. In this circumstance you've probably done your money.

If Jetstar said you could transfer the whole ticket to someone then that is an option. Ask a friend if they want to go to Singapore for a week.

But then you'd need a one-way ticket to SIN which is not going to be cheap at this late stage.

The easiest solution could be to forfeit the return portion.

Or take the flight back to Australia, and then go up again on an elcheapo like TZ (Scoot) for example.
Esp if you have a Plus bundle for the J back to Aust, which gives lounge access in SIN. PS don't get lounge visits included, unlike SG.
If no Plus bundle, then maybe as above colleagues have said, forfeit the coming back part of the JQ flight.

A same day/next day return to SIN on a cheap ticket is a possibility. How much do you like flying? :p

Can the 2 legs be split into 2 separate PNRs? Jetstar book flights in as individual sectors, even if it's on the same itinerary. And while it probably won't apply to you in this case, sometimes the change fee costs more than the ticket itself.
