I have had a standard earth card for about 3 years. I currently spend about 30k per year on it.

I would like to take up the earth platinum for the increased earn rate on the Amex and the travel insurance.

Does anyone know if there is a minimum income requirement?

Also, what do you think my changes would be of negotiating a lower annual fee? I do my day-to-day banking with Westpac but hold no other accounts with them.

Thanks!

If you apply for a new card, there is a min. income requirement of $65,000.

However, if your existing Westpac Credit Card (it doesn't matter what type of card) has a limit of more than $8,000, you can switch cards without having to complete a new application - it can be done in a couple of minutes via internet banking, with no income requirements (Unlike Amex, which still has an income requirement to switch to the new Edge Card and cannot be switched without completing a form, albeit a shortened application).

Hi, I upgraded from Gold to Platinum this morning. They told me there is no annual fee if you spend $18K p.a. or more and also that they would rebate the first year fee (that should be charged upon transfer of my balance from my old card) immediately based on a higher than $18K p.a. spend in the past year.

Intriuging .... so as a student currently earning exactly $0/week I could get a platinum card. Hmmm might look at earth plat. vs my current altitude gold.
