To take Mrs Albatross710 to Europe in suites all the way we can choose to join either from MEL or SYD as will have to have a domestic leg from BNE anyway.. Flight departure will be October this year.

How do the SQ F lounges compare between the two A380 departure points?

I would go Melbourne given it will be refurbished, whereas there is no timetable for Sydney yet, could well mean Oct closure.

Speaking for SYD, I don't think there is such a thing as a F lounge for SQ. This is the photo of the Krisflyer lounge at SYD, nothing special in my opinion:

Suiter. Isn't that a kind of bag you carry suits in?

Good thinking Alby. How Suite it is when you are thinking of going backwards to go forwards with MrsAlby to Europe.

Leaving from BNE the KF F miles are the same but the BNE-SIN sector is done in J. So for the same number of miles might as well go out via one of the southern ports and have an afternoon and morning of F service.

While the active members of AFF do all of the work to enjoy our premium travels, I'm happy to see so many of us make sure our partners get looked after as well.

or a very poor play on words...I'm looking for the suite spot.

I will run your Suite idea by Mrscove as we are long in Kris points as well as QF points so starting in SYD or MEL would work even though we are starting from PER.
You should consider MEL this time of year to avoid the fog in SYD. You would not want to miss the starting flight.

But would it suit you ? :)

SKL MEL or SYD wouldn't be a factor for me, as they are much of a muchness anyway,
even with refurb I suspect.
More interesting is that SYD-SIN is about an hour longer than MEL-SIN,
so therefore much *suite-r*.

We currently have all our Suites flights booked up to Christmas so doing a dogleg flight can be a 2014 thing for us. Naturally I am keen to hear comments from your Suites partners as this could be that WOW Factor we are all chasing.
How suite it is needs to be reported here I think.

of course. There I was assuming Melbourne was further...but it is 200 miles shorter via great circle.

And compared to BNE, MEL is 100 miles closer to SIN.

Sydney might be the go. Later today I'll look at availability.

Mrscove's eyes lit up when I mentioned this to her.
She thought Melbourne as for one night we would stay at the hotel at the airport and walk across to check in close to the departure time.
I will make it a 2014 Suite thing for her.

NZ lounges are better anyway and the consensus seems to be use these at SYD and MEL and not the SQ lounges.

True, although at SQ Lounge you'll be notified and escorted all the way to the cabin when it's time to board if you fancy receiving envious looks from Y and J passengers (J need to show boarding pass at the gate whereas they'd open a new line and let R passengers go straight through) :)

Alby the new MEL SKL is due to open in a week or so. I have been promised invite to the opening - will get some pics to post - Rita the 'gun' SQ lady here in MEL tells me it is really SPECIAL.

I would leave via MEL for 2 reasons. First is the new SQ lounge you get to experience, Secondly you get to avoid Sydney Airport, and the busing between domestic/international :)

I would suggest you stay at the Holiday Inn and not the Parkroyal (formerly Hilton) The latter is worn and tired (unless it's had a refurb in past 12 months). The Holiday Inn is about 300m from the terminal.

Good timing for me then as I fly J on SQ from ML in 2.5 weeks. So just in time. F at this stage won't be for another 9 months for me.

Let us know what it is like and any differences between F and J.

Hi all, I noticed that SQ has pulled all its A380 fleets from Melbourne to Singapore (and vice versa) starting July 1, 2013.

I want to redeem a F suite, but seem like you have to do it before July 1 to experience that luxury?

Can any one confirm this?

Nope still bookable on the SQ site for the SQ220 from MEL-SIN A380 Suites.
