Inconsistant Departure Times

So I am in the Sydney lounge as I type.

VA977 according to the mobile app, when searching specifically for the flight, says a departure of 1853
VA977 according to the by route list says a departure of 1830
VA977 according to the lounge boards, until 20 seconds ago, had a 1820 departure.

It is a 1830 departure.... Interesting that three different sources, three different times....

Depends how you define a departure, which has quite a number of permutations, ie departure is doors closed, departure is push back, or departure is when the aircraft sets course, various service use various sources that have different departure definitions.

From memory Virgin updates the departure times as if it was an Estimated departure time.

Sometimes it can be a little confusing especially when boarding is delayed.
