Hi everyone,

I will need to use a lounge in ICN for a trip to/from Europe from next week.

I'm flying OZ in J but after hearing pretty cough things about its lounges, I'm considering using my PP card which can get me into the following lounges:

Concourse A

KAL
Asiana

Main Terminal
Matina - East
Matine - West
Hub Lounge - West
Hub Lounge - East

Does anyone know if OZ uses a certain concourse or if it is classed as 'Main terminal'?

If anyone has any recommendations as to the best lounge for me to spend 5 hours between flights, please let me know!

Cheers

All OZ operated flights leave from the Main Terminal.

I don't know about the OZ J Lounge at the Main Terminal but the equivalent at The Concourse is adequate - very quiet - albeit no windows, so quite dimly lit. The Main Terminal lounge could be better, but never went into the J section. They got this whole Victorian library / study theme going in their lounges.

I haven't tried any other of the lounges you listed at ICN.

If you are flying out on OZ, you are typically limited to accessing lounges in the main terminal. So in the main terminal, you would have access to the OZ Lounge, as well as the PP Hub and Matina Lounges. Both of the PP lounges, Hub and Matina are hit or miss at times. Some have reported great experiences there, yet others like myself have not had such a good time there. When the food is out, Hub seems to have a better selection than OZ lounge. If you decide on either the Hub or Matina lounges, just fyi the free showers are also nearby on the 4th floor . You would just need to purchase their shower amenity kit. The nice thing about the Hub lounge is that you can usually see what you are going to get without committing to it first. So if it doesn't suit you, then you have other choices.

But if somehow you are able to make it to the Concourse Terminal, then both the KE and OZ lounges are open for PP members. I tend to like the bright and airy look of the KE lounge in the Concourse terminal, yet others have said if feels like a sterile Ikea showroom. The issue is if you go to the Concourse terminal, there isn't usually an easy way to get back to the gates in the main terminal. Most people taking the underground train are people that have just arrived to ICN and are heading to baggage claim. At least this is what I understand the process is.

If however you have a chance to go through immigration and explore the airport outside the gates, then you will find quite a nice airport to explore. From the 24 hr sauna in B1 called Spa on Air, to various restaurants, an indoor skating ring, indoor movie theater, and more. But I can understand the relaxation of the lounge with the free food and drinks, free internet and such. OZ Lounge also has massage chairs that are a nice way to relax before boarding another flight.

Just used the lounge on our recent Europe trip. Lounge is nice but there is very limited food. The showers are HEAVENLY, bit of a wait to use it when we were there, but so worth the wait. Beautiful and very clean with all toiletries supplied and lovely big thick towels. The lounge was very busy when we were there, but not too bad.

Sounds like my experience in July. I had just done TG F lounge and LH FCT so my expecations were high and then into OZ J at ICN. I was happy with the lounge, although as mentioned the food was a but ordinary.

The shower's were amazing and the massage chairs good (don't get trapped like I did!).

The only negative is no natural light.

Definitely the food is a bit wanting in the OZ J Lounge (the one I tried at The Concourse; guessing the Main Terminal one will be similar). No real substantial food put out (could be different for all-day; I've only been there for breakfast), unless your idea of that is salad or instant cup noodles. They might put out some warm nibbles, e.g. dim sum, later, but this is a guess.

It is adequate to fill the stomach, however, before knocking back a few drinks. Drink selection, at that, is not prestigious, but sufficient for task at hand. :)
