I landed in BKK last week, looking somewhat casual, carry on backpack, etc. The queue at Thai immigration was 20 deep. There was one person at the diplomatic queue so I walked up and waited. Four suits turned up behind me with an official looking chap.

As the person in front of me finished the guy tapped me on the shoulder and pointed to the diplomatic queue sign.

I looked at him, smiled and said, “watch this”. I went up to the counter, slapped down my APEC card and the guys stamped my passport and I was away.

God I love that card.

PS: Best place to use it is in China…

Best part about using it in China is hand over your passport when checking into a hotel and watch the confusion grow on the staff as they can't find that visa
(All Chinese hotels must record and check Passport and Visa details)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I used mine for the first time over the last couple of days and it paid for itself in spades when I landed back in Perth at 0140hrs this morning. I was seated at the back of the plane and faced a huge line at immigration but went straight to the front via the APEC line and was in my car driving home 6 minutes after landing. The card is the best $200 I have ever spent:)

Similarly when departing Australia for China and the check-in agent goes looking for your visa .... :p .

Departing from HK last week, I used the APEC/ Travel Pass queue and got through HK Immigration instantly, but then there was about 100 people waiting for X Ray.

I flashed my Apec card to the security guy and he escorted me down to the Staff/Crew Xray machine, and out in seconds.

Not sure it he thought I was staff or if that is the norm.

I have checked the immi website and it said something about proving that your purpose of travel is for business (frequency test min 3 times a year). How to prove that, is it by asking the company to give you a letter to declare it?

Probably helps if your previous passport entry/exit ratio will show it.

Early on they just seemed to accept the application on face value. More recently a few people have been getting follow up letters asking them to explain travel rationale - probably depends on the title on your business card
(I'm sure CEO or Export Manager would get a straight tick)
