Hi Al,

This is the first time using Singapore for a rewards booking, didn't realist about the wait listing scenario but that's ok.

I am travelling alone, BNE-BCN, preferably on 19th or 20th of this month, in Business Class, one way

I wait listed stuff quite a while ago, and some more recently. The more recently was for Wed17th, I wait listed 4 scenarios, and one is now available for both legs.

I only have till Friday 7am to accept the flight, otherwise I lose it apparently. Its exactly 2 weeks time, which I why I thought if I wait I will/might get the saturday/friday flights.

If I don't accept this flight will it negatively impact my chances of getting another one??

I am prepared to pay the standard cost in points (150,000) so I have waitlisted those options.

Does anayone have any advise on this?

Re: I have waitlisted multiple flights, one has come through, but not the one I want

I don't think anyone can say for sure, but I doubt failing to accept the cleared waitlist would worsen your chances of another clearing. There is of course no guarantee any other one will clear, though.

Before accepting, I would give them a call and see if they can push through any of the other waitlists. The worse they can say is no - then you can decide whether to accept the 17th or take your chances.

The other option that I would look at (particularly if travelling alone) is whether there is saver availability to another EU port that has higher frequency than BCN, then booking a cheap flight to BCN. Try LHR, FRA, ZHR, MUC for example. Depends whether the time/cash is worth saving the points for you.

Hi Billy,

thanks for the feedback, I will see if anything happens tomorrow and I think I might wait, there are Standard Business fares available to LHR that aren't waitlisted and can be booked immediately for 17th, so hopefully thats the case for later in the week.

If I get desperate I can try the ports you suggest as I con't care how I get there, more when (meeting the wife and kids)

I am also not too concerned about the points if thats what I HAVE to do, but saving the points would be a bonus.

Re: I have waitlisted multiple flights, one has come through, but not the one I want

My experience is that BNE to SIN is very difficult at any time but more so
on weekends.
We have often had to go to SYD in fact recently booked reward bus seats
To Europe for next Feb and Sydney was our only option. I dont mind
especially as the aircraft are better ex Sydney - A380 compared to old
350 ex BNE with angled lay back seats in 2 x 2 x 2 layout.
Hint : For some strange reason it sometimes works to book seperate
Legs eg BNE to SIN then SIN to wherever. A bit of a punt though if you
check to see if flights are available , book the first leg and meanwhile the
Second leg dissapears.

Gday

I think that should read A330 instead of 350.

Pele.

Re: I have waitlisted multiple flights, one has come through, but not the one I want

Hi All,

Ok things have changed, I can now books a Sunday Flight 21/8 with points, no waitlisted, its a 10 hour layover but thats fine. It gets me in at a good time so I am happy.

But when I go to book, it says 150,000 miles, but then uses 127,000 miles and adds $464 AUD in fees.

I have obviously misread this as I have 150,017 miles, but it wont let me do it without paying.

Is it because I will only have 17 miles left or something??????

Or am I missing something else entirely?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Re: I have waitlisted multiple flights, one has come through, but not the one I want

This is what it says when I click the "150000 miles" checkbox

1 Adult
127,500 KrisFlyer miles+ AUD 464.15
Total fare including taxes, surcharges and discounts

Re: I have waitlisted multiple flights, one has come through, but not the one I want

150,000 miles minus 15% of 150,000 = 127,500 (for booking online; you get to keep the rest of your points)

Re: I have waitlisted multiple flights, one has come through, but not the one I want

Hi Briar1078,

Ok you are right, I wish I had known about that so I didnt transfer over so many points!

And the taxes are the extra money you must pay.

I guess I am not used to that as there are no taxes payable with Virgin, where I usually book my flights.

So All good in the end but a little disappointing about the taxes, I should have known

Re: I have waitlisted multiple flights, one has come through, but not the one I want

Glad it worked out for you.

Don't forget if it is a daytime stay you can take advantahe of the SIA
Hop On Hop of bus and go into the City Centre - at no charge. If it is
A night time flight there is an overnight hotel in the terminal that charges a reasonable hourly rate.(Ambasador Transit Hotel )
Singapore reward redemption charges are fairly steep - return Aus to EU
IS JUST ON $1000.
10 hour is not to bad, often I have been offered flights with over 24 hours
Layover !

Re: I have waitlisted multiple flights, one has come through, but not the one I want

In the End its a win.

Business Class BNE to SIN, with 10 hour layover. Arrives at 3pm, and I think I have to collect and check bags as next flight was separate booking, because I got First Class SIN to BCN, for 138125 miles and $530 AUD

So a First class experience and Business.

I am pretty happy with that.
