An interesting article in The Age regarding Delta and their sports charter operation. The one thing is that College sports in the USA are massive. I did an exchange at a Div 1 school in North Carolina a few years back but it wasn't like this.

In the attached photo gallery the most interesting line item is the KSU (Kansas State) charter from FOE (Topeka KA) to EWR. It involves a 744 and a 330. That is pretty massive but if you are moving a football team, staff, cheerleaders AND the band I guess this is what you need.

Mentioned this over on FT. Imagine how the AFL players would feel if they knew about this (I'll assume they're too busy doing other things to read the news ).

Conversely, it'd be fun to see the US teams travel on DJ.

What got me was the effort that went into service. From meal preferences to the brand of soda the coach likes and whether he wants ice… now if Qantas allows you to set a preference for meals and seats, and DJ are heading that way, how hard would it be to also include something like a default drink. The info could be automatically added to the manifest and perhaps only used if you were top-tier, but the impression it would give would be great
