Greetings to all,

Just checking if anyone has a good suggestion on how best to use 500k QFF points for flights?

  • Unable to travel for more than 14 days due to work commitment. :(
  • No destination in mind, no specific timeframe, prefer First/Business/Premium Economy. ;)
  • Want to earn more status credit and points whenever possible.
  • Might bring my partner along if she can take time off from work, she has about 30k QFF points.

Welcome all suggestions and thank you. :D:D:D

You can't earn any status credits or points on reward bookings with Qantas.

BTW: Joined 2014 and this is your first post??????????

How about considering not using the Classic reward so paying a higher fare to earn the SC & points?

Yup, I am the quiet 1. :oops::oops:

500,000 Qantas points would be enough to get you almost anywhere in Business class and back, except for Europe (although once you add your partner's points you would have about enough for that too). So, I guess it really depends where you'd like to visit? South America would be my pick, but there are lots of other possible destinations. :)

You also have enough points for 2x premium economy round-the-world trips (costs 210,000 points each) although that might be a slight stretch with just 2 weeks of leave!

You won't earn any points or status credits for flights booked using points, unless you use Points+Pay - but that is such poor value I would personally not even consider it.

Agree with that one, yes, it's a option but not one any self respecting AFFer would suggest.

1.- forget girlfriend - if two pax travel it halves the available points which dramatically changes options.
2.- fly Emirates F class to JFK via Dubai as a QF award booking.
3.- forget earning points, use this to just enjoy
4.- That 2/3 round the world in Emirates F will change you view of flight forever. Enjoy the Dom, enjoy the showers.
5.- With 400k of your 500k points you will gain an experience that is rare and amazing.

Joelsoo, my response to your question as to how to maximise your QFF points is to not fly Qantas. Look to partner airlines with significantly lower taxes, like American Airlines and Cathy Pacific. Cathay has an outstanding First product, for example.

Thank you for the advice! Will look into where to go with these airlines.

I have always been thinking of doing this as well, the F/J to Dubai will be a rare experience. But now, not so sure anymore as Europe and Middle East seems to be in a lot of mess at the moment. Thank you for the advice and will look into it! :D

Flying into Dubai is fine. Don't let that stop your plans.

Last year was planning to go Europe, but last minute changed to China because of the attacks.

This year supposed to go USA but changed plan to Japan instead.

F class to dubai is only 288k points, I might be able to plan a trip with my gf afterall. Or maybe USA  :D

Points + pay can sometimes be good value if SCs are important.

Perhaps for some... I would say that if Points+Pay seems like good value, it's probably better just to buy the ticket using money and save the points for something more valuable.

I have been using several times for domestic travels, UK domestic on BA and once to Singapore QF during the Xmas peak season. Not too sure if I would use it for international again...
