How to get the most points

Basically, me and Mrs wants to get the most points.
So we will be paying Everything on the card and then at the end of the month pay it back.
Flight time, we wil pay for Economy Flights and then use points to upgrade to Business Class.
Is this the best way?

Depends where you want to fly from/to.
Cheaper economy tickets are generally not upgradable
Upgrades are at best a lottery. Not guaranteed. You apply and hope for best. With low freq flyer status you are the bottom of the pecking order.
Business awards better value for most people: once booked you have a business seat.

Not unless you fly a lot and have status. Otherwise you will not be likely to get your upgrade granted.

For most people it is best to book J Awards direct (either type).
