How to get QFF points and Status credits when flying a JQ leg.?

I know that I can book a flight on Jetstar and pay say, $22 for a “value bundle” which includes QFF points and status credits.
However when I book a flight on the QF website – say a BNE-LCT-BNE amongst the options will be a combination of QF and JQ flights.
The price for the JQ flights offered via the QF website is always higher than the starter level ticket on the JQ website, however the JQ fare sold by QF does include some luggage allowance.

BUT – do I earn QFF points an status credits on the leg flown on JQ? It seems not.

If not, then how can I pay and extra $22 and get a ‘value bundle”?

Splitting the segments, and booking the QF legs on the www.qantas.com.au and booking the JQ flights + valuepack on www.jetstar.com.au (say BNE-MEL on JQ and MEL-LCT on QF) always gives me a higher ticket price that I cant justify.

Do I have my facts correct?

Ladies and gents .. any suggested remedy?

With thanks
Gary

Book on the jetstar website. It does get annoying how qantas push all the jetstar flights on their website. While we are on the qf jq topic, if I purchase a qf coded flight on jq, then do I get free food and luggage, as technically I am flying qf

The cheaper JQ flights on the QF site wont include SC/points, only the flex fares which are considerably more expensive, though I’ve found the JQ fares offered on the QF website always seem higher priced anyway. I believe they’re higher priced as they include luggage, but not SC/points.

And when you ring up JQ to add the "plus bundle" they will slug you a 50 buck "change fee".

Snap and double snap.........

JQ pricing on the Qantas website is up poo creek - particularly with mixed itineraries. Their IT people must be being paid in peanuts.

If you paid for the ticket, yes you do, however if it is a Frequent Flyer ticket then no you don't.

Add to that there are only limited ways of getting onto these codeshares.

I see them at the gate but have never seen them offered for sale, how is it that I get on one?

And why would I want to over a normal QF/JQ+ flight?

This is IMO one of the big failings of Qantas' strategy here. The age old we are the same company when it suits us (ie. to sell tickets through Qantas' website on to JQ) but we are totally separate companies when it suits us. The whole relationship is tailored just to suit Qantas. Not the consumer. If I book a flight on Qantas' website it should include luggage, status credits, food and FF points no matter what airline it is on. This may seem a bit extreme but if you are going to push me on to JQ then at least give me the option of paying for the points and SC's on your website if you aren't going to include them.

The farce of not providing food or luggage on FF tickets on Jetstar is just ridiculous as well, especially if it is a QF flight number on codeshare.

I am fairly sure it has to be a FF ticket, or an international connection.

I don't believe they are sold as stand-alone tickets (Domestic or international).

Unfortunately they also sell tickets on Air NZ, as well as other airlines I assume, so it gets a bit difficult there, but it does seem odd that they advertise fares for airlines that aren’t even partners technically.

Figured as much.

Guess I’ll just have to stick with flying actual QF metal :p

Hi Guys, my wife and I recently flew JQ from Melbourne to Gold coast return. We booked online, paid extra for SC and FF points and luggage and an extra $ 10 per head to access the JQ lounge in Gold Coast. WELL WORTH IT...not the same as Qantas but plenty of basic food, alcohol, coffee ,papers etc and cheaper than buying a drink and sandwich from the cafe. I like flying Qantas but we were happy with the total JQ experience especially the value we got from the lounge and SC's (30) and points( 2,000)

I hadn't known until early this week that...one can buy as extra, bundle to get QFF points and SCs for flying Jetstar. Points and SCs posted in 48 hours. Will get me closer to requalification.

Yes but be careful that you enter your QFF manually ..

I have had an impossible time actually getting my points and SC out of JQ.

In My Jetstar profile I have loaded, name, addres, phone number, passport number and QF number. When I book online a JQ flight, I link in my profile so I don’t have to add the tedious details. I also pay the extra $17 to get the points / SC. I make the booking – it all looks loaded … but it isn’t.

Then it all fails from there.

I cannot get the points out of JQ/QF. I write email phone, all to no avail. JQ has a guaranteed response time, which they fail to meet. I phone QFFF and they say its JQ’s fault. I call JQ and they tell me its QF’s program and not their problem.

When I booked my wife and child on the same flight, as part of the same booking and entered their QFF numbers manually and paid with one credit card transaction - THEY got their points in 48 hours. That was August and I am still waiting for mine.

It seems that there is a software design fault between the My Jetstar profile and the actual booking. I have tried, after making a booking, to actually phone JQ reservations and asking them to input my QFF number. But still I don’t get the points.

The last two times I took screen shots of the booking, showing my QFF number is there to be seen. These accompanied my complaint emails – which were resoundingly ignored.

I think I must have run over a programmers foot once , and have since been cursed.

Anyone else or is it just moi?

Gary

At least you got to the BOOKING stage GaryBne

When I lo0g into my QFF profile and try and book ASA flights that have a JETSTAR flight number the QFF site transfers me to the JETSTAR site and after i GO THROUGH THE BOOKING PROCESS. SELECT FLIGHTS, Select the extra points cost for SC's and points and hit on NEXT......NOTHING HAPPENS ?????? I can't go any further ???? have not rung up because I would rather fly QF anyway. BUT ???????

I booked flight on Jetstar site, entered QF FF details. Booking didn't show on my account with Qantas but promptly after the flight, points and credit were posted. Perhaps, there's been improvement in the way transactions are processed.
