Hi All,

Having done a couple of long haul flights in the last 12 months using QF FF points, my points are down to 180k. I need to travel from Perth to Orlando on about September 23, and back in the first week of October, for a conference.

I do not know that I could face a 14/15 hour flight in economy on those long sectors, especially in a 3+ seat row.

I can get to Sydney/Melbourne on my free Amex platinum flight, but I am looking at the most value for money way to get from the east coast across to America in at least a comfortable premium economy. Luxury does not bother me, but a comfortable seat does. I can handle short haul flights in the back, but usually not much more than 5 hours.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to keep my costs down, be comfortable, and not get stranded on some foreign shores due to unreliability.

Thanks

Air Pacific will get you NAN to the East Coast for around $2300 return in J, thats not a bad option !

I just looked and got a $2500 quote NAN - LAX, but strangely enough if I look for SYD - LAX I get a quote for $6228. I then looked for SYD - NAN and I get $1664, which means that two bookings are cheaper than a single booking by $2062.

No I idea why that would be.

Welcome to the weird world of airline pricing, you might want to have a look at this thread if you wish to make the most of the J pricing and also status credits, as a trip like that will take you a long way towards Gold:
