How do I book an Emirates award flight?

SWMBO and I are planning a trip from Sydney to London next year and want to travel in F using our QFF points. We want to stop off in Dubai for a few days. A quick look at the Qantas site reveals that it's relative easy to locate/book flights to Dubai on Qantas metal and from Dubai to London on BA metal, but there doesn't appear to show any Emirates flight availability. The same for the return journey. We are keen to experience Emirates F on the A380.


I have read that one can use QFF points to book classic awards flights on Emirates metal but they don't seem to appear on the Qantas site.


Can I book Emirates flights with QFF points?


If so, when do Emirates release their classic award flights and how do I book them?

Emirates award tickets appear on the QFFF booking engine in the same way as QF flights do. I guess it depends on availability. I have seen plenty of availability for EK and booked without problem.

I haven't spent heaps of time looking, but I have only seen very limited EK flights

In my view EK used to be much more 'generous' with releasing award seats. Now they have teamed up with QF much less so. The major reason I have shifted by business elsewhere.

The best bet is to set up an alert on expert flyer for a saver emirates award. I think QF picks their seats from this class, rather than the flexi award fare class

You find that EK awards available on the QF booking engine doesn't appear until 9-10 months out from travel date. Unlike QF/CX awards that appear at 350ish days out.

If you break the trip in the likes of HKG there are stacks of EK & CX award flights out & return.
