Hong Kong Airlines Status Match offer - all major alliances until Dec 2015

This is a bit obscure and I am not sure if this will be of interest to anyone, but raising it anyways...

Hong Kong Airlines FF program - Fortune Wings - is offering all elite members of *A, OW, Sky Team, Etihad, Emirates and the highly respectable Alaska Airlines a free status match up until the end of December 2015.

Promo is referred to as "Elite Membership Challenge Program 2015", and works for Silver upwards.

Given it is free, could be worthwhile for anyone who travels in & around SE Asia (not only HK, but Bangkok, Bali, various China, Japan, Vietnam)
They have regular promo fares sent to their email subscribers.

This elite status is valid for 2 years

"Elite tier status is valid for 24 months from the date of issuance. To keep your membership level, you need to have at least the minimum number of Miles or have made the necessary number of qualifying flights. If this is not the case, your membership level will be downgraded."

Could be good for qualifying for another airline status match in the future

more of challenge than a match and on some interesting carriers to boot:

Within 100 days from application, fly with Hong Kong Airlines, Grand China Air, Hainan Airlines, Lucky Air & Tianjin Airlines and achieve below requirements:

Cant see it benefiting anyone unless theyre HKG or China based and enjoy subpar lounges!

They have perfect safety rating of 7/7.
Unlike some really terrible airlines such as Garuda for example with safety rating of 3/7...

Don't forget that the Hainan Airlines group members are all partners in Fortune Wings club, so this could be useful beyond just HK airlines (i.e. domestic flights in China + Hainan Airlines international flights). FWIW, within China, in addition to Hainan it also includes Lucky Air, Tianjin Airlines and Grand China Air ....

Yep it turns out to be a challenge NOT a status match. I've told them to stick it.

Bah back to the drawing board to find some sort of SG and get airberlin to status match it....
