or how I happened upon this forum in the first place (and its only been a week!)

BUT

I would like to say the biggest thank you to everyone on here!

I don't know how to use forums never having been a member of one before, I don't understand pop culture, I dont know who JC/JV/AJ, whatever the guys initials are, is.. I have no concept of a F lounge or seat on a plane.. I don't earn many points or SC's in a year.. I am not really up to date on a lot of things... and yet

1. Not once have I been made feel stupid (and I can be pretty daft)
2. nor have i felt judged (because I fly Y and have no idea on anything - refer to point 1)
3. people have listened to what i have had to say
4. people have responded (kindly!) to my incessant questioning
5. it seems the same people have been answering the same questions long before i got here

I just thought i would have a post dedicated to everyone who gives up their free moments (which they can never get back) to help me and the many like me on this (and I hear some of you kind folks are members of many, so have to deal with the nth degree of mes') forum.

You have just opened up the world for me so much more than you can be thanked or acknowledged for

For this I (we) are in your debt and I (we) acknowledge that!

On behalf of the AFF members, your more than welcome.

One of the things I've found about here is we all have different reasons for travel, and all have different experiences, and we're only too happy to help others get the most out of their travels.

The other thing is hang around here long enough and you'll soon find out what an F-lounge is like behind those frosted doors and the nice man downstairs, and you'll soon know the tricks of the trade which means that seat 1A is within your grasp (I do believe I still have my first 1A boarding pass still sitting at home).

Stick around. :)

Most posters here (well, me at least) started out like you, and for similar reasons. And now we know more that we did then (not that I know a helluva lot) and from being a lifetime back of the bus flyer who did not know what an airline lounge was I'm managing to fly the front of the bus semi-regularly, and am intimately acquainted with many (including F) lounges - none of which I would have thought possible 10 years ago. That has come primarily from being on AFF

PS. I'm glad I proof read this before posting: It started "Most posers here...":mrgreen:

There are rumblings around that that phrasing might be more appropriate.

I stick around as I still have heaps to learn and am as happy to share what I have learned in the same way that other people shared with me.

One round the world in biz for me and the wife, one return to the UK in biz for me and the wife and boy and a planned euro trip again in J next year - a lot of the benefit attributable to AFF.

Well I am a well known "poser" and thanks for the good words you have for this community.Been around for a while now and I am still learning.

always remember "the only silly question is the one not asked"

I did ask about them, because I had read about them as a guest on this site and was very intrigued.. I had an emergency the first time when I was visiting my friend in JNB and a sold out (3 seats left on outbound) return back to sydney cost 1200 aud in economy. This was when ex syd the fares were consistently well over 3k (which is why I booked a rtw instead of a return), there were no pennies dropping back then, and it still took a good few days of reading here for one to drop.

... It may have been "Qantas Club lounge membership is it worth it"
then I got distracted by everything else, joined and asked questions about that..

I think you were looking for information regarding RTW fares ex-anywhere but Oz.

I used to think that I knew pretty well how the system works, and then I joined AFF...

Happy learning!

I'll second AND third that opinion. Compared to some of the car forums I lurk on, I've only ever had positive experiences here and happily visit. Everybody should be proud.
