I presume you mean where all the articles are?

These are two different technologies. The articles get posted through Wordpress, and that page uses Wordpress to display content. Meanwhile the forum uses Xenforo. There are a few "bridges" that can join the two together, but this would only really allow you to comment on an article without heading to the forum itself.

At this stage, we have been investigating a solution but have not picked a system that works reliably enough for our purposes.

It means, for example, that you can't go directly to flighttracker to in put your latest flight data.
You have to visit the forums first top login, as there is no login on the flighttracker page either.

Flight Tracker is a custom add-on that requires you to be signed in so it knows who you are. That's a special case.
