Anyone need a nice SC run? With Jetstar specials at the moment it would be a cheap holiday with the inclusion of a SC run. ;)

Search HNL-BAQ on google flights. Then look at the calendar to find dates where the special is on. Scattered days between now and March have pricing of $681-701$USD. 810SC can be earned flying HNL-LAX-DFW-MIA-BAQ-MIA-DFW-LAX-HNL. There are other slight variations that also yield 810SC or close to it.

Discussion on FT is that its best to overnight in BAQ otherwise its a 1hr turnaround and the airport has the potential to be slow clearing customs and then going back through to depart.

The link through google doesn't work to book.. So you will then need to find the flights on AA site once you know what your looking for.

If only the AUD was much higher. Would be unbelievably cheap!

Same deal is available from other airports as well but obviously doesn't yield as much SC..

Thanks....might be able to use if dates work

I was looking at first week in March. But the deals have disappeared.. Probably come back again soon. It seems like the special is for Monday Departures for most months..

Google flights is bloody amazing. Everything up dates itself in real time. No need to muck about with schedules and clicking through pages to get a price like on AA.com. Then having to go back to the start and try a new combination etc etc etc.....

:)

I was looking at November....deal was still there...... :)

#bookable on AA for less then $400usd....pity i would miss 4 days and arrive back in Hawaii approximately an hour after my flight had departed to come home

Yep I was going to comment that its an excellent status run provided that you own a TARDIS and can position yourself to HNL for a low/no cost, once you factor in the positioning costs to HNL it may not be such a compelling run.

Nice find :)
I had no idea where BAQ is so had to Google it.

I'm personally never going to do a quick turnaround or overnight stay in Colombia as I imagine all sorts of horrors from Officer Hernandez at MIA on the way back but good luck to those with more balls than I've got :D

Doing an overnight stay on December. It'll be interesting to see if I get picked out for some 'extra' screening :)

Cheaper to position to HNL than other typical YUPP/KUPP start points. Not as good value, but potentially 280 more SCs on the table for a JQ Business with max bundle included...

No issues with any South American turns IME. The only down side turning anywhere outside LOTFAP (where you don't have the option to clear immigration locally) is the dreaded MIA arrival. Even with the new express screening (ESTA) arrivals it still sucks. Took a full 90 minutes last week for a PTY-MIA-MCO connection.

For those who do not often get to LOTFAP this is a common problem but not necessarily a restraint

From what i read on FT..... Expect to be searched by every man his dog thats in a uniform

Deep tissue massages.. mmm... TSA/CBP is what it is. Not much we can do about it, just honestly answer the questions and it should be good. I have a 3 hour transit anyways. I'm more concerned about Colombia. First time there, not sure what to expect!

QF have just announced a flash sale to HNL for $499 in Y

Flights to Los Angeles, London and more from Melbourne | Qantas

I wonder if they were watching. ;)

I would imagine with the recent exchange rate movements that demand between Australia and HNL has dropped off the cliff, if QF are having trouble moving Y seats at $500 ish prices, imagine what the yields and prices are on the JQ 787 services? So yes - positioning to HNL via JQ/HA or even FJ with some sort of internally nested ticketing may be feasible.
