Hi staying Hilton Cairns next week as a Diamond and Just wondering if anyone can help with the following?

1: Is breakfast still full buffet downstairs?
2: Do they charge for coffee?
3: Lounge hours for evening drinks/nibbles
4: Is the pool heated? And warm?

All assistance greatly appreciated

Cheers.

1. Definitely, or optionally in the lounge at your choice.
2. No. They do however prefer you to use the machine yourself, but are happy to get you a coffee if you ask.
3. 5pm to 8pm. Drinks for the full 3 hours. Cold canapés for the full 3 hours. Hot canapés between 6pm and 8pm. Cold canapés have recently had a makeover and recently have been very nice (similar in style now to H-BNE if you know the style). A positive new benefit.
4. Spa heated, pool not. Warm? We are talking Cairns, aren't we? And you are a Victorian aren't you? I'm guessing you'll find it warm!

They do advertise that the pool is heated.
The sun heats water doesn't it? ;)

To be honest, perhaps it is, but I've never noticed it to be heated, but I do only swim when it's hot! Pushing ice bergs aside is not my idea of a good time.

Thanks for the info much appreciated.
As to the pool, would on your experience think it will be warm this time of the year?

Depends on you I guess. I don't, but I'd have to chain my 14YO daughter to the stairs to keep her out! If you're debating about bringing your swimmers, pack them just in case would be my advice! I certainly swim at the reef at this time of year and it's perfect.

Do wish hotels would not advertise a heated pool when its not heated. Stayed at Palm Cove in April and the pool there was so warm.

We were at the Cairns Hilton in October a few years ago and the pool was freezing! We dipped our toes in it, spread our towels on the loungers and soaked up the sun instead :).

Cairns still is cool weather-wise at this moment but i wouldn't say pool water would be freezing.

A pool has to be the temperature of bath water for me to venture in these days ;).

Very pleasant there right now. Spent past week there. The walking/running tracks along Esplanade, exercise stops, people, bbq facilities make for enjoyable stay.

We could have caught up! I was there this week as well!

I'll be back there on 12th & 13th Sept.

+1 and I will be there 4,5,6 Sept and I'll be back on the 16th Sept! 12 & 13th I'm in Canberra. I know where I'd rather be (and it's not Canberra)!

I'll be there shortly (no better way to escape Canberra winter) and again late October. Love the place and love the Hilton. Always look after me really well.

Rather than start a new thread, I've just resurrected an oldie.

H-CNS lounge is now open all day. 6.30am (I think) until 8pm. Also, the old meeting room is going to become a permanent lounge extension. Not a great deal on offer during the day, tea, coffee, water and newspapers, but many will appreciate this change as it gives a quiet and relaxing place to catch up on some work. Anyway, I'm off to Mondos right now, to partake in a couple of glasses of Squealing Pig and watch the Wed. arvo yacht racing!
