Hertz upgrades

Hi all

I have a trip to the UK coming up and have to drive LHR-Lincolnshire-Reading-Brighton so planning to use my free Hertz Pres Circle status to score an upgrade. Just wondering if I book the Audit A4 (GBP170) and get a comp upgrade - what sort of vehicle would that be to?

I have been upgraded in the past to vehicles that I didnt like - can I actually turn down the upgrade if I find it is not what I wanted?

For example if I book an A4 and they upgrade me to a bigger estate car can I demand to get back to my G class car?

It's an issue that we found (not Pres circle though) we got upgraded from a diesel golf to a petrol omega from Hertz Agent near Kings Cross Station (also had issues on drop off / overcharging). Needless to say the fuel use was significantly greater expense, and parking a PITA, but when i tried to turn down the "upgrade" at collection, "sorry nothing else available". However unless you're travelling during the olympics, I'd find that a bit hard to swallow at LHR. Wheer they have an A4 available might be another issue, but they should be able to offer you something suitable.

Thought that might be the case - hoping for an upgrade to an A5 or S Class merc rather than the E class

I have spent time in the UK, flew into Aberdeen and had a Focus booked, ended up with an Omega but turned it down for a Golf, much nicer car on the amazing Scottish roads. In London they will have tons of cars to choose from, but they will give you an upgrade for sure. However if anyone ever gets an upgrade to a Mondeo..... run!

I am also heading to the UK for 2 months and hiring a car from Hertz at LHR. Due to my Hertz Club Gold Five Star, I'm told I will get a free upgrade. I've chosen a Vauxhall Astra. Just wondering what I might expect to get as an upgrade. The Hertz website doesn't seem to be in any order to tell me. Would Hertz have an issue with an upgrade for 2 months?
