Hi Guys.

Our names are Bob and Chris from the Gold Coast, Qld... Having a hell of a time trying to get best price for flight from Brisbane Int Airport to Venice ( Return ) with stopover in Dubai. I will be departing Brisbane on the 21st May, 2012 and returning Brisbane on 11th June, 2012... I have contacted Emirates Airlines office in Brisbane and not really happy with the price at the present moment. Just wondering if it would be better if we waited to approximately October/November when allegedly airfares will go on sale??????

Regards Bob.:(:(:(

Hi Bob

Welcome to AFF, I would suggest waiting, airlines tend to be quite cyclic with their specials and a bit of research (it looks like you have done some) will soon show the cycles in general terms, like when the "early bird" specials are released etc.

Google the ita matrix website or even better get the "on the fly" app. Do a search and save it, you can then check daily. And you can generate a graph for a time range that displays daily prices.

Welcome Bob (and Chris!),

As mentioned by others, there are a few tools available to you online. Obviously, the more flexible you are the more options are open to you. There's no guarantee that prices will get better, but for all we know Australia could have the only viable economy by next May and flights could be as cheap as chips! :p

What price have you been quoted by Emirates? Presuming you are flying economy, the best prices coming up for economy on the net is $2022 /per person. Note that the Emirates website is having a tantrum and I can't check that with a stopover, so there may be an extra cost. If you are willing to be more flexible and fly into Milan, Etihad will do it for $3715 return for the 2 of you. They use Virgin to Syd or Melb, apparently, so that would mean an extra stop and then obviously arriving into Milan instead of Venice. Both Etihad and Emirates offer buses for their passengers within the UAE, so a stopover in Dubai and a stopover in AbuDhabi are essentially interchangable.

If the stopover in Dubai/AbuDhabi is not necessary, Zuji had a $1677/person fare going BNE-Milan via a combination of Delhi, Singapore and Bangkok... I'd probably pay the extra 200-400 bucks NOT to fly Jet Airways :D

Good luck!

Hi Bob,

Definitely don't book yet.

If you wait until Mid-October, Emirates will release Earlybird fares for travel post 1 April 2012 which will be far better value than booking now.

Keep an eye out, the major TA's (I'm a boutique TA) have their travel shows, but if you have firm dates, get onto it and book as soon as the earlybirds are released instead of waiting for their expo's where you may save an additional $20pp but by which time the availability may have run dry on your chosen dates.

Hope that helps.

TG

Thanks Guys for all your help.

We will definitely wait for sure now until October/November until hopefully Emirates will release some specials. The best price we have been quoted to date is with Emirates Office Brisbane and it was $2095.00 per person ( Economy class ). That fare is with a stopover each way at Dubai on the way over and back from Venice.

Cheers and Thanks.

Last December/January, I travelled from Perth to Rome and home from London to Perth. It was cheaper to fly PER -> SIN -> PER (on Qantas/Jetstar etc.) then SIN -> DXB -> FCO and LHR -> DXB -> SIN on Emirates than all the way on Emirates. The Emirates fare was only A$1200. If you could use FF points from BNE -> SIN -> BNE even better. I chose this routing as I don’t fly at night and with this choice, I had an overnight stay in Singapore and Dubai in each direction and all daytime flights.

Etihad fly out of BNE to AUH via SIN several times a week. There is no need to go to SYD or MEL

Thanks Major, I thought it was odd that they were advertising BNE on the website but I'm not an East- Coaster so haven't used EY and both the OP's out and inbound dates showed DJ flights - I guess it will depend on if he's got any flexibility in dates...
