Hi all. I recently received what appears to be a targeted double SC offer and am wary of misunderstanding the T&Cs. I'm hoping someone else has received this one in the past, or can at least help me make sense of it! I called Qantas to ask yesterday but they weren't particularly clear... They mentioned it's a campaign to 'recapture' frequent business travelers, but couldn't confirm what qualified as 'business travel'.

I've pasted the email text below. My concern is whether I *must* book via a corporate travel agent, or can simply make the booking directly.

Qantas Points and Status Credits may not be earned on some fare types and booking classes including Classic Flight Rewards and Qantas codeshare flights operated by Jetstar, Jetstar Asia and Jetstar Japan other than in Economy booking classes Y,B,H,K and L (when booked as a part of a oneworld®, fare). Qantas Segments booked as part of a Points Plus Pay - Flights booking. To be eligible, Corporate bookings must be through an Australian registered travel agent.

. My concern is whether I *must* book via a corporate travel agent, or can simply make the booking directly.

If it's a personal booking, I would say no. The T&C refers to 'corporate bookings' not a corporate travel agent:

quoted:
Corporate bookings must be through an Australian registered travel agent.

It's a bit confusing but this clearly says you can book direct on Qantas.com. So no you dont need to use a travel agent. This would match that the offer is for the individual person.
But it does also refer to business bookings (but that part is not limited to only business bookings) and Corporate bookings. So perhaps this is linked to a corporate account or qantas business rewards account. In the case of qantas business awards you might have to enter the ABN into the booking. (as was the case with a recent 50% status offer for my business.

Do you have the actual full terms and conditions?

Thanks both! It's that last sentence of the last paragraph that throws me off.

But it doesn't appear in the T&Cs on the registration page (below)

It clearly states "Flights can be booked via qantas.com, a travel agent or Contact Centres. ". I think the reason behind these restrictions is so you don't use cheap online fare brokers which might cut into QF's margins.

What Vic said is how I read it, too. If you are making a corporate booking (read: paying a corporate rate rather than a publicly available rate for the flight) then the booking must be done through a travel agent. Otherwise use whichever channel works for you.

Yeah I was thinking that too - and since that sentence appears in the email but not the registration page, I'm hoping it doesn't even matter much!

Thanks all :)

I'm in a similar situation trying to decipher a 50% bonus SC email from QFF.

The email is titled "Fly to Bali, get 50% more Status Credits", presumably targeted since I spent time over the weekend browsing flights to DPS. Yet the T&Cs make no mention of DPS specifically, nor does it specify international-only flights or particular fare classes (Sale, Saver, Flex).

"There's never been a better time to book with Qantas. For a limited time, you'll be rewarded with 50% more Status Credits on eligible flights with a QF flight number on your ticket.*

You can enjoy this offer on an unlimited number of flights booked in the next 7 days so it's a great way to help get your Status Credits balance soaring.

Simply register and make a new booking between 12 May 2019 and 18 May 2019 for travel from 12 May 2019 to 9 September 2019. And don't forget to include your Frequent Flyer membership number in your booking."

With an eligible flight defined as:
*"An eligible flight for the purpose of this promotion means any Qantas marketed flight with a QF flight number on your ticket where Status Credits are normally earned. 50% more Status Credits will not be earned on some fare types and booking classes including Classic Flight Rewards"

Does "Qantas marketed flight with a QF flight number" leave the door open to codeshare flights on EK?

Just to add to the confusion, the registration landing page is headlined "Earn 50% more Status Credits on your next eligible flight"

But then goes on: "You can enjoy this offer on an unlimited number of flights booked, so book now to get your Status Credits balance soaring. "

Does "Qantas marketed flight with a QF flight number" leave the door open to codeshare flights on EK?

I'd think yes. My understanding is as below ;

  1. Qantas marketed flight - is a flight that is sold by Qantas with a QF number on it, but may or may not be flown in a QF metal
  2. Qantas operated flight - is a flight that with QF number on it and is to be flown in a QF metal
For example consider route SYD-HKG-MAA. In this route ;

SYD-HKG is QF127, which is a Qantas marketed and Qantas operated flight
However, HKG-MAA is QF8255, which is a QF marketed, but operated by Cathay Pacific (CX)

If the promotion email you received only mentioned "Qantas marketed" that means, any flight with a QF number which may or may be in a QF metal

Just to add to the confusion, the registration landing page is headlined "Earn 50% more Status Credits on your next eligible flight"

The next eligible flight in this case is the flight you are about to book. And a eligible flight in this case, is a QF marketed flight to DPS
