Long time lurker here, finally registered because I needed some guidance.

A bit about myself, I work just outside of Darwin on a 7/7 roster and FIFO of Manila. I hate flying, airports and airplane meals but the destination (especially away from work) makes it worth it.

I'm like someone with needle phobia injecting heroi_ just for the 'destination'.

I became a QFF member JUN 2012, got Gold membership within the year and have around 244k points to use up. I had plans to use the points for Brazil 2014 but left my NYE plans open until now. My first post is about my dilemma.

Just came in to say G'day. I'll go back into my hole now.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like an intense roster! Best I've ever worked was 4/4 and that rocked 7/7 must be a holiday every time!

@bass_ke, I'm not complaining about 7/7 but am trying to get on to 14/14. That's when the holidays begin!

And what would you call a 28/28 roster?

I could just about do that for the next 4-5 years. Six months on and 6 months in Thailand. I could play off single figures again even though I play off 8 in Thailand.

I've never owned a credit card and they just ask too many questions everytime I considered applying. I will look at the Credit Card section though.

Hi JohnK, thanks for the welcome.

Now you're just showing off with the 28/28! I've done a few 21/7 swings the last half of this year and boy do you get toey after day 10.
I'd love the 28 days off but unsure of the 28 on.

I'm still a relative newbie in the Mining industry so still doing my time before I go looking for better options.

And Thailand is great. I have a few workmates that do the DRW-SIN-BKK run on their weeks off.

I am not showing off. I have met a few people playing golf in Thailand who have that type of roster in Egypt, South Africa and Singapore oil riggs. Their holiday is going back to work! :shock:

I just have to settle with ~9-10 weeks annual leave (not all paid) until I am ready to pull the plug in a few years.
 
I've a couple of colleagues who do 28/28 albeit time on is at sea. They reckon the 28 off is great unless you've nothing planned in which cause they say it's boring!

There is a few AFFer's that go to MNL for work.

Might be able to do a drinks night in MNL maybe soon.
 
I'm the same ApolloX111 and thought it was time I registered as well after more than two years playing with AFF.
I'm QF CL and VA Plat, Accor Plat and IHG Plat Ambasaador.
I enjoy the posts and have learnt a number of useful tips particularly with credit cards and hotels.
So g'day from me and welcome as well!

CL eh? I don't think there are many of you here ... will be interested in your perspective on a number of QF issues. May I be so rude to ask what sort of CL you might be? ie: Pollie, Captain of Industry, 'Celeb' ... etc? Don't be modest!
