Headphones/Portable Speakers

Anyone got any recs for any portable small laptop speakers with decent enough sound?

Also after some headphones that aren't break my bank expensive.

Planning on watching videos on my laptop during the flight...catch up on Supernatural

Bought some SONY MDR NC7 noise cancelling headphones the other day at Costco for $70. Sony have them advertised for $149!!!!

They claim to cancel 87.4% of 'noise'

better value than my QC3 Bose at $599.

I am a big fan of the noise isolating headphones, the lack of power requirements and small profile make them handy for travelling, they also look less obvious should you be wearing them to go to the loo which seems to be a new trend.

I have a pair of UE earbuds and the sound quality is fantastic compared to my standard ipod earbuds.

No don't panic! I'm not using the speakers inflight! Only when in the room. Hoping to watch some footy whilst away in the lead up to the finals. Want something a bit more stronger than the inbuilt speakers.

Plus, I'm not that inconsiderate Skoogle.

Which model do you have though? These are one of the lower end ones, that only block out -16dB.

I note they won't deliver to a PO Box, either.

Uh-oh - didn't see that on the site. It processed my order to a PO Box, so I guess I'll be getting an email from them soon.

I purchased two pairs of the JBL on tour portable speakers from DSE when they were on clearance in Darwin for $20 a pair, they have worked well and I use them for PC Audio presentations for up to 100 people so they can pack a punch, battery gets flat quickly though! Not sure they are worth $150 + though.

I have a pair of the Logitech V20 USB speakers which work great, and come with a nice travel case.

For a cheap compact option I can recommend Panasonic RP-SPT70. Not world beaters but do the job on holidays!

I have Sennheiser cx300 - only positive emotions, sound great for their cost (something about 30 USD at Amazon). And as they are ear plugs, they have good noise isolation and take no space at all.
I think that headphones are the better solution than the portable speakers while traveling unless you are listening to music / watching movies with someone else. You'll get incomparably greater quality of sound with headphones.
