Hi all,

Just a quick question regarding upcoming travel SYD-WEL. 3 airlines service this route (direct) - QF, DJ and NZ.

I'm a member of both DJ and QF, with no status with either, and prefer to earn points/SC's with QF where possible.

My question is in regards to cost of fiight. I'll only be travelling Discount economy, so was wanting to know whether the DJ flight for $249 or $269 is necessarily better value than the QF for $300? My main question is in relation to both IFE, meals, seating space etc, and the overall product/level and quality of service

I've flown DJ domestically on the East Coast but these flights have been for only <1 hr so these factors haven't been overly important to me. I do have fairly long legs so the more seat space available the better.

Any reviews of trans-tasman DJ services and whehter QF is worth the extra money? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't expect much on either carrier for SYD-WLG. Except QF will feed you for free (although you might just shrug "big deal"). Oh yeah and you can watch some TV on QF whereas DJ it'll cost you, but all in all you have to justify whether the price difference is worth that.

If you have QP access (e.g. paid or through status), you'll have access to the QF lounges in SYD before your flight. I don't know if DJ have a lounge in SYD T1 (e.g. for The Lounge members or DJ Gold; I thought the MH lounge could only be used for DL or VA flights).

DJ only has lounges at T2 at SYD. No lounges at international terminal.

If your flight to WLG is very soon, why not try NZ? They are very good IMHO with great IFEs and probably even cheaper than QF. Of course I understand if all you care is FF points and status credits.

I'll second this. I've flown Air NZ SYD-CHC before and was extremely happy with the flight, it made me question why I had been using QF on the journeys.....
