Just a quick overview on Hawaiian Airlines flights from Brisbane to Honolulu based on my recent flights in October/November 2014:
Positives:
Plenty of positives
  1. Price - hard to beat, 5 sectors, 3 Islands A$1188 incl taxes in Economy
  2. Service - good on BNE-NHL, better on HNL-BNE, good on inter-island flights although these are short sectors (40mins)
  3. Luggage - unbelievable 2 X 32kgs per person, you'll need a lot for the great shopping in Hawaii
  4. Punctuality - perfect, all 5 sector flights left promptly on time
  5. Food & Drinks - pleasant meal offering which was substantial in quantity and acceptable on quality and good selection of drinks. Food and drinks included in fare.
  6. travel options - 4 day per week direct flight option is excellent and loads were 95% outbound and 90% inbound
  7. check-in - very good with no issues

Negatives:

  1. nothing major only slight negative is they are using Boeing 767's which are now dated and offer no seat back entertainment options and fairly small overhead luggage space, they are being replaced by A330's from Dec 5 on this route
  2. Hefty US$17 charge for mini tablet entertainment system, but as we had our own iPads happy with user pay option although the charge could have been a more acceptable US$10

Overall, a very good experience for the price, will give Jetstar and Qantas a real run particularly at these price points. Will definitely use again.
Hope this is useful to prospective AFF travellers to Hawaii.
