Hi guys, I couldn't find this particular topic so sorry if it's being repeated. I'm looking at taking a week off at the end of August and going to Honolulu. Has anyone flown with Hawaiian Airlines (SYD-HNL)? Any comments as to service/food/ife etc. Unfortunatley ,travelling down the back of the aircraft ! Haven't booked yet, appreciate any tips or advice.

Hi Davoncs,

I haven't flown them myself, but i've had alot of clients fly them in both J and Y over the years, and the overwhelming feedback is that they're average, not as bad a JQ, but nothing outstanding.

Not sure if theres anyone on here with first hand experience who may offer something further.

I flew on them a couple of years back SYD-HNL-OGG-HNL-SYD and thought the overall experice was quite good. The crew were pretty laid back & gave us an island, homely feel. Service as expected flying in economy. I would fly with them again if the $$$ is right.

My wife and I flew HA from NHl to SJC earlier this year. Flight was perfectly reasonable in Y for 5 hours. (i.e. compares well with QF, quite outstanding for an american airline!).
We both got decent meals (chicken, natch) and prompt service. The crew is pretty laid back and very pleasant to deal with.
Equipment is a worn (if clean) 767, so if you snag AB or HI for two of you, it's a nice comfortable flight. Certainly couldn't beat the price and the direct flight into SJC. Happily fly them again if we return to HNL.

Do pay attention to baggage restrictions though. It's 30kg for 'international' legs, but only 50lb (23kg) for intra US. We got caught by that rule and had to stump up $25 at checkin.

Good to hear.

I'll be flying HA from HNL to LAX next month.

Same experince really...Flew on them 1.5 years ago roughly??, QF was actually booked out. Look they aren't great but they aren't bad. The planes feel a bit worn (think QF 767's before they were re-fitted). I'd put them about level with JQ with the feel of an Air Pacific (holiday mode)!

If you don't expect too much you will be fine!
