I booked a JASA BNE-MEL in February in J, and a friend is travelling on the same flight in Y. I have CX Diamond status - does it need to be on my boarding pass for me to guest him into the Business Lounge or would a show of the membership card sufficient? Also, would I have better selection of seats and shadowing if I can put my CX number in? Doesn't seem to be able to let me do it on the website. Many thanks!

Even as a business class passenger you have guest rights for the domestic lounges, so your boarding pass is all that's required

Flying in Biz there isn't that much of a difference in J seats really - on the 763 there are five rows and the 73x three rows. I would call and get them to put the number in though - are you planning to credit points to CX in the end as well?

My friend's wife is coming with him now, does the oneworld status give me an extra guest or would that still be one guest only?

PS Thanks for replying simongr. I actually typed up a really long reply a couple of weeks ago with a big rant about poor QF service and then decided not to post it on the reason why I would prefer row 1. Anyway, thought that it is such a first world problem and decided no to post.

This whole site is dedicated to first world problems so I wouldn't hold back on that account.

Per the Qantas lounge access rules you wouldn't be able to take in two guests:

Eligibility and Access to The Qantas Club Lounges | Qantas

It is only Qantas Platinum that get two guests.

However it can't hurt to try and if the lounge isn't too full I am sure they will let you in.
