Qantas passengers grounded in Perth this morning are still trapped at the airport - more than 11 hours after they were scheduled to leave.

The QF480 was all but full when it taxied up the runway this morning, en route to Melbourne, but when its water tanks failed and it was turned back the airline decided not to schedule a replacement. Passengers would be dripped into spare seats instead.

"We are doing everything possible to accommodate passengers [but] we have not had a replacement aircraft," a Qantas spokeswoman said this afternoon.

I cant believe that's real - "water tank fail" and "dripped onto other flights".....

i am sure Qantas did everything in their power at the time to get the passengers onto flights. I am sure Qantas do not just have spare planes at every airport in case something like this occurs.

These puns were flowing naturally before but now I think we're trying to faucet.

Oy, reading these last few posts has been akin to waterboarding!

It's easy to 'spot' you Navy types :!: :p
Hmm, now which one of us regularly lands an aircraft on a small metal deck in the middle of the sea? Navy? That's the colour of the Dockers I was wearing the earlier in the week.

Now back on topic (for an aircraft that has run out of water, perhaps). A Navy and an Air Force officer go to the head at the same time. The Air Force officer finishes his business and turns to leave without washing his hands. The Navy officer calls out to him and says "In the Navy they teach us to be hygienic and to wash our hands after urinating". The Air Force officer calls back "In my training they taught us not to pee on our hands".

Forgive me - but slightly off-topic.

NM - Navy????

Please explain.
